Suki’s pink Honda S2000 in 2 Fast 2 Furious was reportedly the same car that appeared as Johnny Tran’s black S2000 in The Fast and the Furious. The Petersen Automotive Museum identifies its displayed car with both roles; automotive reporting attributes the same-car account to the sequel’s technical adviser, Craig Lieberman. The transformation was more than a repaint: the movie car was modified, while other S2000s handled particular stunt shots.
Was Suki’s S2000 the same car as Johnny Tran’s?
According to the Petersen Automotive Museum, the S2000 it displays appeared as Johnny Tran’s black car in The Fast and the Furious and later as Suki’s pink car in 2 Fast 2 Furious. Motor Authority likewise reports that technical adviser Craig Lieberman described it as the same vehicle, purchased by the studio from its original owner for the sequel. That production history is reported retrospectively, rather than documented here through a production record.
The car’s change in screen identity was immediately visible: the black finish became bright pink, and anime-style airbrushed artwork gave the sequel build its distinctive look.
How the movie car differed from a factory S2000
Honda’s 2000 historical introduction specifies the standard S2000’s 2.0-liter DOHC VTEC engine at 240 horsepower and 153 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed transmission. Honda described the production model as a two-seat, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive roadster.

The museum describes the film car as fitted with a Paxton supercharger and producing around 340 horsepower. That figure belongs to the modified movie car, not the factory S2000. The museum also notes a special ground-effects kit and 18-inch rims for the bridge scene.

Honda’s 2008 body release discusses the later S2000’s rigid steel monocoque, high X-bone structure and front-mid-engine layout. It provides broader model context, not proof of the precise configuration of the car used in either film.

Why the hero car and stunt cars are not interchangeable
The S2000 identified by the museum is the recognizable hero car, but it should not be assumed to be the car in every moving shot. Motor Authority’s account of the sequel’s production says other vehicles were prepared for specific stunts, including the bridge jump, and that one was remote-controlled. The account also says the production initially considered a Toyota MR2 Spyder for Suki and acquired four cars before changing direction. These details describe production reporting, not a complete inventory of every car used in each shot.
What happened to the car during the Miami race?
The museum says the opening Miami race left bangs and scratches on the S2000’s front bumper. It reports that an airbrush artist touched up the artwork between takes, helping keep the car’s distinctive finish presentable despite the filming wear.
