On April 5, Us Weekly said a source had confirmed the relationship to People and paraphrased that source as saying the two were enjoying each other’s company. The report also noted that Simmons posted photographs from the tropical trip without Assaf. Us Weekly’s April 5 account did not present a joint statement from Simmons and Assaf.
Entertainment Tonight reported on April 6 that the pictures had been taken earlier that week and cited a source telling People that Simmons and Assaf were dating after meeting on the Caribbean island. ET said it had sought comment from Simmons’s representative. Its report likewise relied on attributed source accounts rather than a direct confirmation by the two.

Early April reports characterized the pair as dating or in a romance, but the cited reports attributed that characterization to sources. The later account was notably different: on April 9, Us Weekly reported they were no longer seeing each other. One unnamed source told the outlet, “It’s over. How old were they, and why did the age difference draw attention?

In a May 10, 2024 retrospective, The Independent quoted Kimora saying, “There’s definitely an age dynamic there.” The outlet attributed the remarks to an interview with TMZ and also recounted the reported breakup. The Independent’s report presents Kimora’s reaction; it does not change the fact that the relationship descriptions came from media sources rather than a joint statement.
