Amanda Seyfried said she wore a prosthetic while filming The Testament of Ann Lee and wore a merkin—a pubic wig—in the film’s closing scene, in front of a burning building. She also said the prosthetic is not visible in that scene. Her comments were reported from a February 25, 2026 appearance on BBC Radio 2’s The Scott Mills Breakfast Show.
What prosthetic did Amanda Seyfried wear?
In accounts of her BBC Radio 2 interview, Seyfried described wearing what she called a “prosthetic butthole” for the film. Us Weekly reported her saying, “This movie, it needed to be graphic,” followed by, “So, like, I had a prosthetic butthole. It was exciting.” Us Weekly’s February 26, 2026 report attributes those remarks to the February 25 broadcast.
Parade likewise reported that Seyfried wore the prosthetic “just in case.” Neither report explains how it was made or provides further production details.
Did she wear a pubic hair wig, and can you see the prosthetic?
Seyfried said she wore a merkin—a pubic wig—in the closing scene, where she stands in front of a burning building. She described the moment this way: “I was pregnant and naked, but I wasn’t naked at all and at the end of the movie, I’m standing in front of a burning building with just a merkin. I felt so free.” She clarified that the prosthetic cannot be seen in the scene, so viewers should not expect to spot it on screen. What is The Testament of Ann Lee about?
The Testament of Ann Lee is a historical musical directed by Mona Fastvold, with Seyfried playing Ann Lee, founder of the Shakers. The Associated Press describes the story as spanning Lee’s life and notes that the musical numbers draw on traditional hymns.
