Rotten Tomatoes’ 2022 guide ranks A Night at the Opera first among its 13 listed Marx Brothers films, with a displayed Tomatometer score of 97%. Horse Feathers and Animal Crackers also show 97%. These are Rotten Tomatoes’ aggregated review scores and ordering, not a measurement of which film every viewer will find funniest; scores may change as reviews are added. See Rotten Tomatoes’ guide.

What the scores and ordering mean
In this guide, A Night at the Opera is listed first, while Horse Feathers and Animal Crackers each display the same 97% score. Rotten Tomatoes’ numbered order places tied-score films in a particular sequence, but that sequence is the guide’s ordering, not a separately calculated ranking among ties. Nor does a higher Tomatometer score establish that a movie is funnier to an individual viewer. Because scores can move as reviews are added, consult the live guide for the latest figures.
Love Happy is included in the list, but the guide displays no percentage for it. That is not a zero score, and its placement at the end should not be read as a score-based position.

How the Paramount and MGM films fit together
Rotten Tomatoes describes The Cocoanuts, Animal Crackers, Monkey Business, Horse Feathers and Duck Soup as the group’s most anarchic Paramount films. After Zeppo’s departure, the brothers’ MGM period included major box-office successes such as A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races, according to the guide. This provides studio-era context for the list, rather than a separate critical verdict on either period.

Universal Pictures at Home describes The Marx Brothers Silver Screen Collection Restored Edition as containing the only five movies to feature all four brothers. It is a five-film collection, not a complete set of the 13 films in Rotten Tomatoes’ guide. See Universal Pictures at Home’s collection description.
Historical DVD collections have differed in which films they include and in region. A specialist Marx Brothers videography documents past releases, but does not establish current stock or compatibility for every viewer. Check an edition’s film list, disc format, region coding, language and subtitle options before buying; the sources cited here do not confirm current retail availability.
