Why did Alice in Chains cancel its other shows?
After the initial cancellation, the band announced it would also cancel upcoming headline dates and festival performances. It said the decision followed careful consideration and advice from medical professionals. The band explained that Kinney’s health was its priority and described his long-term prognosis as positive.
Contemporary coverage identified planned U.S. headline dates and festival appearances, including Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville. Rolling Stone Australia’s May 11, 2025, report covered those cancellations. The cited coverage does not establish that every later booking was canceled; in particular, Alice in Chains was also listed for the July 5, 2025, Back to the Beginning event in Birmingham.

What did Sean Kinney say about his health?
A report published April 9, 2026, by BIG 102.1 KYBG-FM reproduced a later statement from Kinney. He said doctors had advised him not to play in the short term and added, “The good news is that I’m going to be fine and I’m going to live.” This is a statement reported in 2026, not a new October 2026 health update.
What is known about the medical emergency?
The reports cited here do not name Kinney’s condition, explain what caused the emergency, or provide detailed treatment or recovery information. The Los Angeles Times reported that no further details had been shared, and Kinney’s later statement, as reproduced by BIG 102.1, did not disclose a diagnosis. There is no basis in these reports to infer one.
