Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz Special Edition returned to North American theaters in January 2026 as a 4K-remastered event screening—not as a new season of the television series. The English-dub screenings were January 12–13, followed by a Japanese-language screening with English subtitles on January 15.
When and where did Gundam Wing return to theaters?
Bandai Namco Filmworks announced the theatrical return on July 24, 2025, at San Diego Comic-Con, but did not give U.S. screening dates or a U.S. theater count at that time. The later Gundam Premiere Night announcement set the North American event for January 12–13 and January 15, 2026. The Japanese-language announcement described the footprint as approximately 800 theaters across North America—not 800 U.S. theaters. Gundam Official’s July 2025 announcement and its December 2025 event announcement provide the dates and scope.
That answers the question of whether Endless Waltz ever played in American theaters: it was part of a North American theatrical event. The published footprint is regional, so it does not establish which specific U.S. cinemas participated. The announcements do not report attendance or ticket sales.
Which version played, and on what date?
The event screened the 4K-remastered Endless Waltz Special Edition. The choice was between audio and subtitle formats, not different theatrical cuts:

What else was included in Gundam Premiere Night?
Endless Waltz Special Edition was the second feature in a double bill. The program began with Special Edition: Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Urdr-Hunt: Path of the Little Challenger and also included the Iron-Blooded Orphans anniversary short “Wedge of Interposition.”
Rank #2
- The latest internal frame design features a semi-monocoque structure, letting you experience the process of building a Mobile Suit
- The joint structure, returning to the original design, incorporates a new mechanism where the parts that look like joints bend properly by reinterpreting the movable axis
- The legs, inspired by the close combat MS Gundam that it's known for, use composite frame joints to create a human-like outline even when moved
- Details are intricately carved into parts not visible from the outside, such as joints and the backs of parts. Noticeable mounting holes have been removed, resulting in a seamless, integrated design
- The product box will have a Bandai Namco warning label, which is proof that you are purchasing an officially licensed product
Additional event material included a special greeting from Rina Ikoma and an interview with localization producer Ken Iyadomi and Ken Morrison of Ocean Production about Gundam Wing’s North American localization. Fathom Entertainment CEO Ray Nutt described the program as a special double feature for anime and Gundam fans. The event details appear in Gundam Official’s announcement.
Why did the return matter to North American fans?
Bandai Namco Holdings has described Mobile Suit Gundam Wing as a first Gundam title for many North American fans, helping explain the series’ enduring regional popularity. In its corporate interview, the company said it planned additional screenings of past Gundam Wing titles after the success of 4K screenings marking the series’ 30th anniversary. It also said it would examine further opportunities for the series. That is an indication of interest, not a confirmed promise of another U.S. screening.
