Tengen Uzui’s story moves from an earlier life as a shinobi to service as the Sound Hashira, a dangerous mission in the Entertainment District, and retirement after losing his left eye and left arm. The official character profiles establish that broad order, but do not give exact dates for his childhood, Hashira appointment, or retirement.
Before the Entertainment District: Tengen’s shinobi past
Tengen is described in the official Entertainment District Arc character profile as a former shinobi who is fond of flashy things. The profile establishes that background, but does not provide a dated account of his childhood or explain when or why he left the shinobi life.
By the mission: Sound Hashira and Sound Breathing
By the time of the Entertainment District mission, Tengen is the Sound Hashira, one of the Demon Slayer Corps’ Hashira. SEGA’s licensed character profile identifies Sound Breathing as his technique. Neither profile gives the date he became a Hashira or how long he had held the position.
His wives support the mission
Hinatsuru, Makio, and Suma are Tengen’s wives. SEGA’s official character page describes them as kunoichi skilled in combat and espionage who work together to support his missions. Their role is part of the mission’s story, not incidental background: Tengen’s work is supported by their skills and coordination.

The Entertainment District mission and battle
Tengen takes Tanjiro and the others with him on the mission in the Entertainment District, as the arc’s official character profile states. The battle there becomes the decisive turning point in his career. The later Hashira Training Arc profile says he lost his left eye and left arm in that battle; it does not provide further medical detail.
After the battle: retirement
The Hashira Training Arc character listing calls Tengen a “Former Sound Hashira” and says he is “currently retired.” That is the supported description of his status after the Entertainment District battle: he survives, but no longer serves actively as a Hashira.

Later presence in the story
Tengen appears in the official Hashira Training Arc character listing as a retired former Hashira, establishing that he remains part of the Corps’ later story context. The listing does not set out every action he takes in that period, so it is not a basis for a more detailed chronology on its own.

The series is set in Taisho-era Japan, but the official character pages cited here do not assign calendar dates to Tengen’s life events. They also do not establish his exact age, birthday, Hashira promotion date, length of service, or retirement date. The safe chronology is therefore an order of events, not a year-by-year biography.
