There is no reliable, apples-to-apples ranking of eight luxury items Donald Trump personally bought for millions. The figures available instead describe a mix of company property purchases and construction spending, historical self-reported asset values, and later property valuations. The eight examples below make clear what each figure measures—and who or what it is associated with.
How to read the figures
A purchase price, a construction bill and an asset valuation are not interchangeable. Several properties were acquired or developed by the Trump Organization, while the yacht and aircraft appear in a 1989 asset list. Reported valuations can show what a property was said to be worth at a particular time; they do not establish what it cost to buy or furnish.
Eight Trump-associated luxury assets
1. Trump Princess yacht: $30 million listed value, not a confirmed purchase price
Trump bought the yacht from the Sultan of Brunei in 1988, according to The Atlantic. An April 25, 1989 document reproduced in a Roll Call Factba.se transcript lists “Trump Princess: $ 30,000,000.” That is a contemporaneous listed asset value, not a verified price paid for the yacht.
Former Trump casino executive Jack O’Donnell, who helped host parties aboard it, recalled to The Atlantic: “It was so gaudy. Almost shockingly gaudy. And he loved it. He thought it was the most beautiful thing out there.”

2. Mar-a-Lago interiors: $7 million in reported gold-leaf decoration
The Atlantic reported that Trump bought Mar-a-Lago in the 1980s and later put $7 million worth of gold leaf on its walls, along with gold-plated sinks near the ballroom. The $7 million is the outlet’s reported interior-decoration figure—not the estate’s acquisition price or an independently verified accounting.
3. Scotland golf property and course: $12.6 million acquisition, plus at least $50 million for construction
The New York Attorney General’s 2022 account says the Trump Organization bought the Aberdeen, Scotland property in 2006 for $12.6 million. The Washington Post reported in 2018 that the company spent at least another $50 million building the course. Those are distinct amounts: one for acquiring the property, the other for course construction.

4. Scotland and Ireland golf courses: $79.7 million combined purchase in 2014
The Washington Post reported that the Trump Organization paid a combined $79.7 million in cash for large golf courses in Scotland and Ireland in 2014. This is a company property investment, not a documented personal shopping expense. The same report said the clubs lost money as renovations were underway and required $164 million in cash to keep them running; that figure describes operating and renovation support, not the purchase price.
5. Trump National Golf Club Westchester: $8.5 million purchase, later $68.7 million company valuation
The New York Attorney General’s 2022 account says Trump purchased the club for $8.5 million. It also cites a $68.7 million valuation on a 2011 financial statement and challenges assumptions behind that later figure. The valuation is not another purchase cost, and the cited account does not establish that Trump personally paid either amount.

6. Seven Springs estate: reported values ranged from $56 million to $291 million
The Trump Organization bought the 212-acre Westchester County, New York, estate in 1995, according to the Attorney General. The office’s 2022 account says company-reported values were $80 million in 2004, $200 million in 2007 and $291 million in 2012; a 2016 appraisal valued the property at $56 million. The 2025 appellate decision also discusses valuation disputes. These are values assigned at different times—not the estate’s purchase price or proof of personal spending at those levels.
7. Trump Tower triplex: disputed area and valuations of $80 million to $327 million
A 2025 New York appellate decision says the apartment measured 10,996.39 square feet, based on a 1994 condominium declaration. It summarizes financial-statement valuations ranging from $80 million to $327 million between 2011 and 2021 and describes disputes over how the property was valued. Those figures are reported valuations, not a verified cost to acquire or furnish the triplex.

8. Aircraft and helicopters: $20 million combined listed value
The April 25, 1989 document reproduced by Roll Call’s Factba.se transcript lists “Various Aircraft Including Boeing 727 And Five Helicopters: $ 20,000,000.” The number is a combined historical listed asset value for multiple aircraft, not the price of one plane or helicopter and not a verified outlay.

The distinctions matter most when interpreting large totals. The Washington Post reported that the Trump Organization made more than $400 million in cash purchases of new properties over the nine years before Trump’s presidential campaign. Eric Trump, whom the report described as helping manage the company, characterized the approach this way: “He had incredible cash flow and built incredible wealth,” he said. “He didn’t need to think about borrowing for every transaction. We invested in ourselves.” That is a company representative’s explanation of company property purchases, not independent confirmation of personal spending.

Two other large figures sometimes attached to stories about Trump luxury travel are not purchases at all. The Government Accountability Office estimated federal agencies spent $13.6 million on four Mar-a-Lago trips in February and March 2017; that is government travel support. The Associated Press reported $4.7 million in income from branded watches in Trump’s latest financial disclosure; that is revenue from watch sales, not money Trump spent buying a luxury watch.
