According to CNA, Starkey said he had a track called “Rip Off” and invited Lennon and McCartney to contribute after becoming friends with them. He also told Dhani Harrison why Harrison was not included: the “musical table was full” after Lennon and McCartney had contributed. CNA’s report
Is “Rip Off” a Beatles song?
No. It is presented as a Mantra of the Cosmos track, with Lennon and McCartney joining Starkey’s project. In a June 2025 interview reported by NME, Starkey said: “No, it’s not (like a Beatles song)… It’s like Mantra of the Cosmos with them in it. Has “Rip Off” been released?
June 2025 reports do not agree on whether the full track was already available: some described a preview or said it was coming soon, while another said it could be heard online. “Rip Off” is not the first joint musical project for Sean Ono Lennon and James McCartney. They had previously released “Primrose Hill,” which was reported in 2024.
