Some celebrities have names that also belong to places; others are parents who chose a place name for a child. Those are different connections: a shared name alone does not show that someone was named after a city or that a parent intended a geographic namesake. Here are examples supported by published coverage, with the origin stories attributed where reported.
Celebrities whose names overlap with places
These examples are about the celebrity’s own name. Unless a source reports a naming explanation, the place connection is a name match—not evidence of a namesake.

- Brooklyn Decker: Her first name is also the name of a New York City borough. A celebrity feature includes her among public figures with place-related names, but does not establish that she was named for the borough. Stars Insider
- Paris Jackson: Her first name matches the French capital. A roundup of famous people with place names lists her as an example; that match does not establish the origin of her name. Stars Insider
- Paris Hilton: Hilton also appears in coverage of people whose names match places. As with Jackson, the listing supports the overlap, not a claim that she was named after Paris. Stars Insider
Celebrity children given place names
These examples concern names parents chose for their children. A reported explanation is identified as such; where the available coverage does not establish intent, the name should not be treated as proof of it.
- Brooklyn Beckham: Us Weekly includes Brooklyn among celebrity children with place names. The geographic match is clear, but the cited excerpt does not establish a definitive reason for the choice. Us Weekly
- Chicago West: TIME describes the name as a reference to Kanye West’s hometown. That is a reported explanation for the child’s name. TIME also cautions that the history of the name Chicago is more complex than its modern association with the city. TIME
- Camden and Phoenix Lachey: Us Weekly includes both children in its roundup of celebrity kids with place names. The source notes that some explanations of names in its coverage are unconfirmed, so do not assume a specific origin for either name without a confirmed attribution. Us Weekly
- Tupelo Keough: BabyNames.com connects Riley Keough’s son’s name to Tupelo, Mississippi, the birthplace of his great-grandfather Elvis Presley. This is the explanation reported by that source. BabyNames.com
How to read a celebrity place-name list
- Separate the categories: A celebrity whose own name matches a location is not the same case as a celebrity parent choosing a place name for a child.
- Distinguish match from meaning: A city, borough, state, or country may share a name with a person without having inspired it.
- Attribute origin stories: Treat an explanation as reported by the cited outlet, and preserve its uncertainty when the source says it is unconfirmed.
- Name the kind of place: Brooklyn is a borough, Paris a city, and Tupelo a city in Mississippi. Geographic labels make the connection clearer.
The examples above are documented instances, not a verified complete roster of 13 celebrities and 12 celebrity children. The cited coverage supports the distinction between name overlap and reported naming intent, but does not establish that those exact counts are exhaustive.
