That promotion covered volumes 1–12, or 108 chapters, in 21 languages. It should not be treated as proof that those chapters are free now.
What the 108-chapter offer covered
On September 1, 2023, Gizmodo reported that the official One Piece staff account had announced free access to the manga’s first 12 volumes, which make up the East Blue Saga. Those volumes contain 108 chapters, and the offer was described as available in 21 languages. The promotion was tied to Netflix’s live-action One Piece series. Gizmodo’s September 2023 report does not establish an end date, so it cannot confirm that the offer is still active.
Are the first 108 chapters free now?
Not on the strength of the 2023 announcement. VIZ later ran a separate promotion through its Shonen Jump App: chapters 1–155 were free through April 10, 2026, in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, the Philippines, Singapore, and India. That promotion has ended. See VIZ’s promotion announcement for its original terms.
On VIZ’s chapter listing, checked October 7, 2026, chapters 1–3 were marked free, while chapter 108 required joining to read. The listing also says that the latest free chapters available to a reader may be accessed through partner site MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA, depending on location. Check VIZ’s One Piece chapter page from your location for current labels and access options; availability can vary by region and platform.

Where to check before you start reading
-
Open the official VIZ One Piece chapter listing and check the labels shown for the chapters you want.
-
Confirm that the listing applies to your country. VIZ notes that free-chapter access depends on location and points readers to MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA for the latest free chapters available in their region.
-
Do not assume that a previously announced promotion remains available: the VIZ offer for chapters 1–155 ended April 10, 2026, and the 2023 report does not give an end date for the earlier 108-chapter offer.
If you prefer a printed copy
The original 108 chapters were collected in volumes 1–12. A print edition is an optional way to read the series; it is not required to access chapters that a platform currently labels free. VIZ lists purchase options for One Piece Volume 1.
