The 2024 Time Bandits is a ten-episode Apple TV adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 1981 film—not a continuation of it. It premiered July 24, 2024, and Variety reported that Apple canceled it after one season in September 2024, so there is no second season to watch.
What is the 2024 Time Bandits series?
Apple describes the series as a comedic adventure about a group of thieves and their newest recruit, Kevin, an 11-year-old history enthusiast, as they travel through time and space. The television adaptation was created by Jemaine Clement, Iain Morris, and Taika Waititi. Apple’s May 20, 2024 announcement says: “Together, they set out on a thrilling quest to save the boy’s parents — and the world.”
The show adapts the premise of Gilliam’s 1981 film. It is a new television version of that story, rather than a sequel to the movie.
How many episodes are there, and when did they come out?
The season has ten episodes. Apple premiered the first two on July 24, 2024, then released two episodes each Wednesday through August 21. Apple’s listing dates the final episode, “Fortress of Darkness,” August 21, 2024.

Will Time Bandits have a season 2?
No second season is planned: Variety reported on September 17, 2024, that Apple canceled the series after one season. The report establishes the cancellation, not a reason for it.
