Spoilers for the full second season of Wednesday. The zombie Pugsley calls Slurp is Isaac Night, a former Nevermore student whose unfinished experiment ties him to Gomez, Morticia, Thing, and Tyler. Isaac’s plan ends when Thing kills him—but the finale leaves Enid’s fate unresolved and Wednesday’s reason for freeing Tyler deliberately uncertain.
How does Slurp become Isaac Night?
Pugsley reanimates a corpse and names him Slurp. As the zombie eats brains, his body regenerates and his mind returns; he eventually speaks and remembers who he is. In Part 2, Slurp is revealed to be Isaac Night, a gifted former Nevermore student and Gomez Addams’s old roommate. Netflix’s mid-season explainer covers Slurp’s early regeneration, while its Isaac Night interview discusses the character’s identity and connection to Thing.
What happened between Isaac, Gomez, and Morticia?
Isaac’s original goal was to cure his sister Francoise, who is a Hyde. He built a machine in Iago Tower and used Gomez’s electrical abilities to power it, concealing that the experiment would kill Gomez. Morticia intervened, saved Gomez, and broke the machine. Isaac died in the resulting explosion, leaving his project unfinished.
Isaac’s return brings that old family conflict back into the present. Netflix’s Season 2 finale explainer frames the series’ conflicts around family, a point co-creator Alfred Gough put this way: “The show comes down to families in conflict and family drama. There’s always a family at the center of everything.”

Why do Isaac and Francoise target Tyler?
After Francoise is freed from Willow Hill and reunited with Isaac, they resume the machine experiment. Tyler is led to believe it will keep Francoise alive. Their actual plan is to use Tyler as the machine’s subject and remove his Hyde abilities, which they believe will save his life.
Tyler resists because he sees being a Hyde as part of who he is. To him, losing that power would mean losing part of his identity, not simply receiving a cure. Isaac’s single-mindedness is also central to his characterization: in a Netflix Tudum interview, actor Owen Painter describes Isaac as someone who “will stop at nothing — and sacrifice nearly anyone — to achieve his goals.”

Why does Thing matter to Isaac’s plan?
Thing is Isaac’s severed right hand. Morticia cut it off before Isaac died; the hand reanimated and became Thing. When Isaac reunites with it in the finale, he regains his telekinetic ability, described as a Da Vinci-like power. The reveal that “Thing” is an anagram of “Night” makes their connection explicit: Thing is not just a helper in the Addams household but a living piece of Isaac’s past.
Why does Wednesday free Tyler?
Isaac restrains Tyler as part of the machine’s plan, and Wednesday finds him there. Tyler asks her to kill him. Instead, she cuts him free and says, “I missed.” That line underscores how little she explains her choice—even to herself.

The creators do not give the moment one definitive motive. Co-creator Miles Millar says, “I don’t think she even knows herself why she did that.” Gough emphasizes the practical effect: “It gives the distraction she needs to take out the whole machine and save her brother.” Millar also leaves open the possibility that Wednesday sees something in Tyler. The finale establishes that she spares him; it does not confirm that she trusts him, wants to redeem him, or has formed an alliance with him.
How does Isaac die?
The Addams family disrupts Isaac’s plan, and Thing confronts him. Thing pulls out Isaac’s clockwork heart, killing him, then returns to the Addams family. Isaac’s end is also the resolution of the season’s central reveal: the hand he lost is the one that ultimately stops him.

What does the finale leave unresolved?
Enid proves to be an alpha werewolf and transforms to save Wednesday from being buried alive. At the season’s end, she cannot turn back into human form. Wednesday sets out to find her, but the finale does not establish when or whether Enid will return to human form.
Wednesday’s decision to free Tyler is another open thread: the act is clear, but her feelings and intentions are not. Netflix’s finale coverage records the creators’ differing emphasis on impulse and strategy without settling what the choice means for the characters’ future.
