These 10 memorable lines come from Superman: The Movie (1978), not the entire Superman film series. They are an editorial selection, not an audience poll or measured ranking, chosen for character voice, scene significance, variety, and their ability to make sense beyond the moment. Dialogue wording can vary between transcripts, so check the released film for exact punctuation and context.

Why these lines still capture the film
The quotes span the film’s different registers: science-fiction catastrophe, a family’s hopes for a child, Clark’s search for a place in the world, romance, rescue, and Lex’s theatrical villainy. That variety is why a single one-line slogan cannot stand in for the film’s voice.
The selection is specific to the 1978 movie. The Associated Press’s July 9, 2025 coverage describes James Gunn’s Superman as a character three years into his self-appointed effort to help people, with a conflict about doing good and justice in a complicated world. Gunn told the AP, “Everybody’s gotten so cynical and ironic,” and described his Superman as “a good-natured guy who wants to be kind.” Those are the director’s comments on the newer characterization, not dialogue from the film and not a basis for adding 2025 movie quotes here.
