The season premiered Wednesday, September 25, 2024, on FOX. The episode-specific FOXFLASH schedule listed the premiere, titled “Season 12 Premiere: Who Can it Be Now?”, for 8:00–9:02 p.m. ET/PT. FOX’s wider fall announcement listed the show in the 8:00–9:00 p.m. ET/PT hour; for the premiere’s precise scheduled slot, the episode listing is the more specific source. What was new about the clues?
FOX described a season-long approach that spread clues across the production. Instead of treating the clue package as the only place to search, viewers could pay attention to four clue locations:
- Costumes: Visual details in a singer’s disguise.
- Song choices: The songs performers selected could carry clues.
- Packages: The pre-performance segments remained part of the clue trail.
- On-stage moments: Events and details during the performance could also matter.
These are useful ways to organize the clues, not official FOX categories. The practical change is that solving a singer’s identity may require connecting details across different parts of the episode rather than relying on a single package.

Who are the Masked Ambassadors?
Each of the season’s 15 masked singers was to be endorsed by an alum of The Masked Singer—a Masked Ambassador described by FOX as having a special connection to that singer. The ambassador could provide another major clue about the celebrity’s identity. FOX’s description establishes the ambassador as a clue source; it does not say ambassadors directly reveal or confirm identities. FOXFLASH’s season preview describes the format.
The ambassador adds a second kind of clue source to the puzzle: details generated by the show, such as a costume or song selection, sit alongside information supplied by someone connected to the singer. That connection is a reason to weigh the ambassador’s clue, not proof of a particular guess.

What happened in the premiere?
FOXFLASH’s premiere-week preview said five new masked celebrities would perform in “Who Can it Be Now?” It also highlighted Barbie, Footloose and a music celebration of Miley Cyrus as part of the episode’s themes.
One reported clue example came from the Leaf Sheep reveal. In its September 25, 2024 report, LiveNOW from FOX said the clues included a quarter and that Ken Jeong guessed correctly. That is one premiere example, not a complete account of the season’s clue trail.

Who hosted and sat on the panel?
