Spoilers for Arcane Season 2, Episodes 1–3. Act I mixes direct League of Legends callbacks with deeper Runeterra lore, design echoes and visual storytelling. The clearest links include Janna’s temple, Heimerdinger’s “brambleback” code phrase, the Black Rose and Viktor’s League-inspired design. Other moments are useful context rather than confirmed champion cameos, so this list distinguishes what the episode shows from what production sources and lore connections add.
What counts as an Arcane Season 2 Act I easter egg?
Netflix’s episode guide names Act I’s first three episodes “Heavy Is the Crown,” “Watch It All Burn” and “Finally Got the Name Right.” The series is based on Riot Games’ League of Legends, and Netflix identifies Season 2 as its final season. The ten entries below are a curated selection, not an official Riot ranking. They include explicit scene references, production-confirmed design connections, and details that add context without proving a separate game-character appearance.
The clearest League and Runeterra connections
1. Janna’s temple and the sisters’ old story
Episode 3 takes place in part among the ruins of a temple dedicated to Janna, an ancient spirit. Netflix’s production feature confirms the temple’s dedication and says Jinx sets her trap for Vi among the ruins. In Act I reporting that republishes Polygon’s account, the sisters’ childhood story about Janna rescuing miners as the air ran thin gives the location a personal connection as well as a lore one. Treat that rescue account as the story told in the show, rather than a verbatim official character biography. Netflix’s production feature · Act I scene reporting
2. “The brambleback has left the jungle”
In Episode 2, Heimerdinger uses “the brambleback has left the jungle” as a code phrase while he and Ekko break into Jayce’s former lab, according to the Act I report. A brambleback is a neutral jungle monster in League, commonly called red buff. The line is a quick joke for players who recognize the game term; in the scene, it also functions as a practical signal between the pair. Act I scene reporting

3. Teemo in Jinx’s hideout art
The same report points out a brief image of Teemo among mushroom-like art on a wall in Jinx’s hideout. It is a visual cameo in the artwork, not evidence that Teemo appears as a character in the episode. The distinction matters: an image can reward a close look without making the character part of the scene’s plot. Act I scene reporting
4. The Black Rose reaches Ambessa
In Act I, an attempted attack on Ambessa ends with a black rose dissolving from Amara’s hand; Ambessa recognizes the threat. The Act I report connects the Black Rose to Noxus and to champions associated with that region. The scene therefore opens a door onto a wider Runeterra power network, but it does not explain the organization’s full history. Act I scene reporting

5. Viktor’s design echoes a League skin
Netflix’s behind-the-scenes feature says the show’s Viktor design takes cues from one of his League champion skins. In Arcane, the Hexcore-driven transformation gives the look a distinct narrative purpose: it belongs to Viktor’s changing story, rather than simply reproducing a game appearance. This is a production-confirmed design connection, not just a resemblance noticed by viewers. Netflix’s production feature
6. “Get Jinxed” returns during the Sevika fight
The familiar “Get Jinxed” tune plays during Jinx’s Episode 2 fight with Sevika, Netflix reports. The soundtrack feature credits Arcane co-creator Christian Linke with writing the song in 2013. Its return links the series to Jinx’s League-era musical identity while giving the fight a recognizable callback. Netflix’s soundtrack feature

Worldbuilding and visual details worth noticing
7. Smeech is a Zaun-linked yordle
Fortiche’s production discussion describes Smeech as a yordle associated with Zaun and explains his Chemtech augmentations. That combination makes him a useful glimpse of how the city’s technology can reshape a character’s appearance. The source does not identify Smeech as a League champion, so the connection here is species and setting, not a confirmed champion cameo. Netflix’s production feature
8. The Hexcore anomaly is a clue about the arcane
Netflix’s production feature describes the Episode 3 anomaly as an unstable expression of the arcane, with visual language resembling the Hexcore. It is best read as a clue about Arcane’s own magic system and the risks around it—not as a confirmed reference to another named champion or artifact. Art director Julien Georgel described the anomaly as a “raw and unstable expression of the arcane.” Netflix’s production feature

9. Janna graffiti turns the temple into a contrast
Jinx’s fluorescent paintings stand out against the temple’s calm atmosphere. Production designer Arnaud-Loris Baudry said, “The colorful and fluorescent graffiti contrasts with the calm of the environment.” The production commentary also connects the paintings to the sisters’ story. This is visual storytelling built around a confirmed Janna setting, not a separate canonical relic. Netflix’s production feature
10. The wider Riot universe surrounds the season, but that is not an Act I easter egg
Riot documented Season 2 activations across League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra and VALORANT. These official promotions show how broadly Riot tied the season to its game portfolio; they are franchise context, not details hidden in Act I’s scenes. Riot’s Season 2 game activations

How to read these callbacks without overclaiming
- Direct reference: the named Janna temple, the brambleback phrase, Teemo in the wall art, the black rose and the returning song all have scene-level or official-source support.
- Production-confirmed connection: Netflix confirms the Viktor design influence and describes the temple and anomaly’s visual intent.
- Worldbuilding or interpretation: Smeech’s Zaun-linked yordle identity, the anomaly’s resemblance to the Hexcore and the graffiti’s contrast add context without establishing extra champion cameos.
- Franchise context: Riot’s game activations accompanied the season, but do not count as in-episode easter eggs.
For scene-level details such as the brambleback line, Teemo wall image and Black Rose moment, the available account is an Act I report republishing Polygon’s article; Netflix’s production and soundtrack features supply the stronger confirmation for the production details and music callback.
