The Equalizer returned for the second half of Season 5 in a new CBS-announced time period: Sundays at 10:00–11:00 p.m. ET/PT. That was later than the show’s regular 9:00 p.m. fall slot. Its October 2024 premiere had a separate, one-time 9:30 p.m. start.

What time was The Equalizer on in 2025?

CBS and Paramount+ announced the midseason return in a 10:00–11:00 p.m. ET/PT period. The show’s Season 5 finale, “Decisions,” was listed for May 4, 2025, in that same broadcast period. Paramount+’s 2025 winter schedule announced the new time period; CBS’s Season 5 episode listing identifies the finale as Episode 18.

These are CBS-announced network time zones, not a guarantee of an identical local start on every affiliate. Local schedules can be affected by other programming.

How the Season 5 schedule changed

Season 5 phase CBS-announced schedule What it means
Premiere, October 20, 2024 9:30–10:30 p.m. ET/PT One-time premiere start
Regular fall period, beginning November 3, 2024 9:00–10:00 p.m. ET/PT Regular period announced for the fall
2025 midseason return 10:00–11:00 p.m. ET/PT New time period for the midseason run

The fall dates and times were set out in CBS’s July 26, 2024 programming advisory. The later move to 10 p.m. was announced separately, so it should not be confused with either the premiere’s 9:30 start or the 9 p.m. fall period.

Why did The Equalizer move to 10 p.m.?

The official announcements establish that CBS placed the midseason return in a new 10 p.m. period, but they do not state a reason for the change. Without an announced explanation, claims about the network’s motive would be speculation.

Where can viewers check an episode’s time?

For a specific broadcast date, check the local CBS affiliate’s schedule as well as CBS’s episode listing. The network’s announcements give the planned ET/PT periods; an affiliate’s lineup is the practical source for local scheduling.
