What did Dominic West say happened?
In a Times Radio interview reported on December 24, 2023, West connected the loss of contact to his comments at the press conference. As quoted by Us Weekly, he said: “We sort of [lost touch because] I said too much in a press conference, and so, we didn’t speak after that.” He recalled being asked how the group celebrated reaching the South Pole, adding that he “probably said too much.”

What did West reveal about the expedition?
West and Harry took part in Walking With the Wounded’s 2013 Antarctica expedition alongside injured military veterans. At a press conference in January 2014, West spoke about Harry’s contribution to the team and shared anecdotes about the expedition’s end.
The Standard reported West describing a wind-protected latrine Harry built: “He built this incredible castellated structure with blocks to keep out the wind and it even had a loo roll holder.” West also discussed the team’s celebrations after reaching the South Pole. His later account was that those press-conference remarks were followed by the two men no longer speaking.

Did The Crown cause the rift?
The available reports do not show that West’s role as Charles in The Crown caused the loss of contact. West said he did not get Harry’s advice when taking the part, but he attributed their falling-out to what he had said at the expedition press conference. The series is relevant context, not an established cause.
What is known about Harry’s side?
The reports do not provide a direct explanation from Harry. TV Insider relayed an unnamed friend’s account that Harry felt his privacy had been invaded. That is second-hand reporting, not confirmation from Harry, so the clearest on-record explanation remains West’s account of his own remarks.
