Julia Garner plays the Silver Surfer in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, while Sue Storm’s pregnancy is revealed in the film’s opening moments, according to an Associated Press review. The Marvel film places these developments in a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world and follows a Fantastic Four who already have their powers.
Who does Julia Garner play in The Fantastic Four: First Steps?
Julia Garner plays the Silver Surfer, whom Disney’s official synopsis identifies as the enigmatic Herald of Galactus. Disney describes Galactus as a ravenous space god, establishing the Silver Surfer as part of the threat facing the team. Disney’s film page gives the official character and premise details.
Is Sue Storm pregnant in The Fantastic Four: First Steps?
Yes. In its review, the Associated Press reports that Sue sets down a positive pregnancy test in the film’s opening moments. This is a plot detail reported by the review, not part of Disney’s official synopsis. The same review identifies the US rating as PG-13 for action and violence and some language. Read the Associated Press review.
Where and when does the film take place?
Marvel describes the setting as a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world. The team consists of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing. The film is not an origin story: D23 says its main events begin four years after cosmic-ray exposure gave the team their powers. Marvel’s official film page introduces the setting and characters; D23’s cast feature explains the timeline.
