By the solo-issue totals reported by Cultture, Hellcat (Patsy Walker) ranks first, followed by Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters). This is a ranking by reported issue count—not by quality, influence, or popularity—and its lead depends on including Patsy Walker’s earlier romance comics, not just superhero stories.
Marvel female heroes ranked by reported solo issue count
The figures below are reported by Cultture’s ranking article. Cultture says it uses legacy numbering and excludes team books and guest appearances. It does not provide an issue-by-issue audit or a visible publication date, so these should be read as that article’s totals rather than independently verified counts.
| Rank | Hero | Solo issues reported by Cultture |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Hellcat / Patsy Walker | 435 |
| 2 | Captain Marvel / Carol Danvers | 194 |
| 3 | She-Hulk / Jennifer Walters | 188 |
| 4 | Spider-Girl / Mayday Parker | 149 |
| 5 | Spider-Woman / Jessica Drew | 126 |
| 6 | Elektra | 107 |
| 7 (tie) | Ms. Marvel / Kamala Khan | 85 |
| 7 (tie) | Ghost-Spider / Gwen Stacy | 85 |
| 9 | Laura Kinney / X-23 | 83 |
| 10 | Jessica Jones | 77 |
Why Hellcat’s total needs a qualification
Cultture explains that Patsy Walker’s 435-issue total includes her earlier solo romance-comic history, from before she became a superhero. That makes her lead much broader than a count limited to superhero solo comics. The ranking is therefore not a like-for-like comparison if the question is specifically which characters have appeared in the most superhero-led solo issues.
What “solo issue count” does—and does not—tell you
Legacy numbering can make totals difficult to compare with a simple count of modern series volumes. Marvel’s series index lists separate Ms. Marvel series from different publication periods, illustrating why a count’s treatment of multiple volumes matters. Cultture says it uses legacy numbering, but does not give a complete set of rules for every edge case. Its stated exclusions—team books and guest appearances—also mean the numbers are not a measure of each hero’s total presence across Marvel comics.
