Fans had a say in selected elements of Survivor 50, but they did not choose the cast or determine the winner. CBS announced a series of pre-filming votes on game and presentation choices, with castaways learning the results only after they were competing on the island. The season aired from February 25 to May 20, 2026; its finale revealed outcomes of the remaining in-game fan votes.
What CBS said fans could decide
CBS announced the initiative on February 24, 2025, under the theme “In the Hands of the Fans.” Voting was set to begin on February 26, the premiere day of Survivor 48, run in multiple rounds, and finish before Survivor 50 filming began. The announcement described votes on selected elements that would shape the season—not a vote over every production decision.
Host and executive producer Jeff Probst described the initiative this way: “For the first time ever, our loyal fans will take control – deciding key elements of the game, from twists to idols to advantages.” CBS’s announcement named these example ballot questions:
- Idols: “Idols or No Idols.”
- Final Four fire-making: “Keep It or Lose It.”
- Finale and reunion: A live event in Los Angeles, or the winner reveal and aftershow in Fiji.
These were examples, not a published complete ballot. CBS said castaways would not know what fans selected until they were competing on the island.

What the season and finale revealed
CBS’s episode guide lists the season premiere, “Epic Party,” on February 25, 2026, and says 24 returning players arrived in Fiji. The finale, “Reverse the Curse,” aired May 20, 2026. Its listing says Probst revealed the outcomes of the remaining in-game fan votes and their effects on the final stage.
The official episode guide and finale release do not provide a complete ballot or a comprehensive account of every vote’s final result. They establish that remaining in-game vote outcomes were revealed in the finale, but not enough detail to reconstruct every choice or result.

Fan votes, the jury, and Sia Fan Favorite were different
There were distinct kinds of voting associated with the season. The pre-filming initiative let fans influence selected game or presentation elements. Separately, the jury chose the Sole Survivor: CBS’s finale announcement names Aubry Bracco as the winner, with the $2 million grand prize.
The same release says Cirie Fields won the $100,000 Sia Fan Favorite prize, a separate fan-selected award. That result was not the jury’s decision and did not determine the Sole Survivor.

What is—and isn’t—known about the voting
The official material establishes the timing, several example questions, the castaways’ lack of advance knowledge, and that the finale disclosed outcomes of remaining in-game votes. It does not publish fan-vote totals, percentages, turnout, or polling methodology, and it does not enumerate every ballot choice and result. Those figures and details therefore cannot establish how representative the voters were or how close any result was.
