Where Is Wendy Williams? is a four-part Lifetime docuseries about Williams’s life after her daytime talk show ended. It follows an intended career comeback that became a more troubling account of health concerns, alcohol use, family disagreements and a court-ordered financial guardianship. The episodes aired over two nights, February 24 and 25, 2024. They do not establish where Williams is now.
What the documentary follows
Lifetime’s four-part series was filmed from August 2022 to April 2023, according to Salon. It follows Williams after the end of her talk show, including an attempted podcast comeback and life under a court-ordered financial guardianship. The series also depicts concerns about her health and alcohol use.
The title asks where Williams is, but the series is a record of the period when it was filmed, not a current whereabouts update. The available reporting does not establish her present location or current access to her.
What viewers and coverage called the biggest bombshells
Alcohol use and concern from people around her
The documentary includes Williams discussing alcohol, alongside scenes in which people around her express concern. Reporting describes conflicting views within her circle; those are the accounts of the people who voiced them, not a settled finding about her drinking or its effects. Salon and The Associated Press describe alcohol and health concerns as part of the series’ story.

Recorded moments that raised questions about her health
Some scenes were described by viewers and reporters as showing confusion, difficulty following conversations or physical instability. Those descriptions refer to footage; they are not a medical diagnosis. Separately, Williams’s care team announced in February 2024 that she had primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, saying the diagnosis had been made in 2023. People reported the care team’s announcement.
A comeback plan that changed course
The project was initially conceived as a follow-up to Lifetime’s 2021 documentary Wendy Williams: What a Mess!, with a focus on life after the talk show and the possibility of a podcast. In a Los Angeles Times interview published February 27, 2024, executive producer Mark Ford said, “The purpose definitely shifted.” That is the producers’ description of how the project evolved, not proof that every editorial choice was justified.

Family relationships and disputes about care
The series includes a Miami family visit and differing accounts among relatives and people on Williams’s team about her well-being, work and guardianship. Those disagreements are part of what makes the documentary contested: an individual’s statements or a filmed exchange do not, on their own, resolve what care Williams needed or who should make decisions for her. Coverage of the family and care disputes appears in Salon and People.
The guardianship and the attempt to stop broadcast
The financial guardianship is central to the series’ questions about who controlled Williams’s finances and care. Her guardian sought to block the documentary’s release, but the court did not stop the scheduled broadcast. That outcome establishes that the film aired; it does not amount to a judicial endorsement of its contents or settle allegations about the guardianship. The Associated Press reported on the release dispute.

Why the release became controversial
The dispute was both legal and ethical. Williams’s guardian tried to prevent the broadcast, while the producers defended releasing a film that showed deeply personal moments. The court allowed the program to air, but that legal outcome did not decide whether filming or broadcasting those scenes was ethically sound.
Producers told the Los Angeles Times that they understood Williams to be of sound mind when filming began, that her behavior raised increasing concern, and that the team debated whether to continue. The Associated Press later reported executive producer Erica Hanson’s account that producers learned of the dementia diagnosis from Williams’s son and then stopped filming. Hanson said, “We all became very concerned for her safety. To be honest, I was so concerned she would fall down the stairs and for numerous different reasons.” Lifetime executive Brie Bryant told the AP there was “no conversation” about filming more with Williams.

These are the filmmakers’ explanations for their decisions. Ford told the AP, “We hope that people can see why we aired it, and produced it, and that the intention is to shine a light on the difficulties and the secrecies in these guardianships.” Viewers can weigh that stated intent against the privacy and vulnerability of the person depicted; neither the producers’ account nor the court’s decision resolves that ethical question.
