Star Toomey’s exit on Survivor 48 paired two memorable rap performances with a vote that turned on distrust. In Dalton Ross’s recap of episode 10, published May 1, 2025, Star is both an entertaining presence and the player others ultimately choose to eliminate.
What happened in episode 10?
Dalton Ross’s recap for AOL follows a reward challenge, Joe’s individual immunity win, and the vote that sent Star home. Ross’s account and interpretations are those of the recap; the challenge, strategic motives, and vote have not been independently verified against episode footage here.
Kyle’s reward challenge choices
In the challenge Ross describes, players were bound as they moved through sand and used their mouths to drag a buoy. Kyle won and chose Eva, Kamilla, and Shauhin to join him for the reward.
Ross reads Kyle’s choices as a strategic signal: he could encourage Mitch, Star, and Mary to oppose Joe while showing Kamilla loyalty, without openly offending Eva and Shauhin. That is Ross’s interpretation of Kyle’s intentions, not a confirmed explanation from Kyle.

Joe wins immunity; Star is voted out
Joe won individual immunity, according to Ross. Mitch then told Shauhin that Star was targeting him. With the vote apparently narrowing to Star and Mary, Star was eliminated.
The episode’s reversal is central to Ross’s recap. Joe and Eva sounded confident enough that Ross expected one of them to be blindsided; instead, Star became the target who left. The recap also notes that this was Joe’s third individual immunity win.

Why did Star get voted out?
Ross’s explanation centers on trust. He characterizes Star’s game as seeming “a bit all over the place,” which made other players wary of her. That is the recap writer’s reading of the social dynamics, not a definitive account of every player’s reasoning.
Ross also portrays Star as vibrant and entertaining, while observing that lack of food and sleep appeared to affect her energy. Those are his impressions of what the episode showed, not medical findings or independently established facts about her condition.

What was Star’s rap on Survivor?
Ross recounts two performances by Star: “My Enemies Are Plottin’” and “It’s Time to Go,” the latter delivered in her final words. His “bad rap” framing plays on both the songs and the distrust he says surrounded her game. He found her entertaining and says her exit left him wanting more Ponderosa content; those are his opinions, rather than established audience consensus.
At Star’s torch snuffing, Ross reports that she told Jeff Probst, “Hit me where it hurts, uncle JP,” and then, “Hit me where it hurts.” The wording here follows the recap and has not been checked against the episode transcript.
