Haley Joel Osment plays the Kansas City Scalper, a serial killer Wednesday Addams has been pursuing as a summer pastime. Netflix revealed the guest role in the opening footage from Wednesday season 2—not as the season’s central Nevermore mystery.
Who does Haley Joel Osment play?
Osment plays the Kansas City Scalper. Wednesday has spent part of her summer tracking the longtime killer before returning to Nevermore. The distinction is simple: Osment is the actor; the Kansas City Scalper is the character.
How the season 2 reveal happened
Netflix showed the first six minutes of season 2 at its Tudum event on May 31, 2025. In the opening sequence, Wednesday confronts the Kansas City Scalper, and Thing helps her get to safety. The reveal introduces an early guest-character storyline rather than disclosing the season’s broader supernatural mystery. TheWrap reported on the character details and opening footage; the Associated Press also confirmed the reveal.
How the Scalper story fits the wider season
Wednesday’s pursuit takes place before she returns to Nevermore. The school’s new supernatural mystery is the larger season arc, separate from the summer hunt that brings Osment’s character into the opening. Co-showrunner and executive producer Miles Millar described Wednesday’s return as a challenge to her expectation that she knows the school and can stay in control: “She thinks she’s going to be in control, that she knows where all the bodies are buried, and she doesn’t.” Netflix Tudum’s season overview includes Millar’s comments and details on the season.
