Spoilers for the ending and both credits scenes. Venom: The Last Dance has two credits scenes. The mid-credits scene returns to Knull, who threatens that “your world will burn” while remaining imprisoned. After the full credits, the bartender survives the Area 51 wreckage, and a cockroach approaches a broken vial linked to a symbiote sample. That final image hints at survival; it does not confirm that Venom has returned.
What happens in the mid-credits scene?
After Venom’s apparent sacrifice, the film cuts back to Knull. He is shown as a continuing danger and delivers the threat “Your world will burn,” declaring himself the King in Black. The scene does not show him escaping his imprisonment, so the line is a warning and a tease rather than proof that he is already loose. Den of Geek and GamesRadar+ describe the scene and its implications.
What happens after the full credits?
The final scene returns to the bartender amid the Area 51 wreckage. A cockroach passes a broken vial associated with a symbiote sample. The image invites the possibility that a trace of the symbiote survived, but the film does not show it reforming, show Eddie reunited with Venom, or confirm a return in another movie. TheWrap and TIME also discuss the scene as a possible survival tease.
How the two scenes differ
| Scene | What appears | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Mid-credits | Knull delivers a direct threat and calls himself the King in Black. | Knull remains an unresolved threat, but is not shown escaping imprisonment. |
| After the full credits | The bartender survives; a cockroach approaches a broken vial linked to a symbiote sample. | A possible survival hint, not a confirmed Venom resurrection. |
The first scene makes its threat explicit through Knull’s words. The last relies on a visual suggestion, whose meaning remains open; there is no definitive on-screen explanation of the cockroach’s symbolism.

#1 Best Overall
- In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel?s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance.
Who is Knull, and what does the scene mean for the future?
In Marvel comics, Knull is known as the King in Black. Den of Geek reports that the character first appeared in Venom #3 (2018), but that comic history does not establish how the film series will use him. Writer-director Kelly Marcel described the scene as an introduction to Knull and “just a little taster” in an interview with Den of Geek on October 24, 2024. She also said she knew of plans for future Knull movies; that is her reported comment, not a studio announcement confirming a specific film or release date.
Separately, GameSpot reported Marcel said Eddie and Venom’s story was conceived as a three-story arc. That comment, like the Knull remarks, offers context about creative intent rather than confirmation of the next installment. TIME’s view that the scenes may not lead to further films is analysis, not established studio information. The film’s credits scenes leave the sequel outlook unresolved.
