Jun-hee’s baby, Player 222, wins the final game after Gi-hun gives his life rather than kill the child. The finale ends the planned story of the original series; its Los Angeles cameo hints at the reach of the recruiter system, but creator Hwang Dong-hyuk said it was not a tease for season 4.
Who wins the final game?
Jun-hee’s infant, Player 222, wins Sky Squid Game, the season’s final contest. Gi-hun (Player 456) protects the baby through the first two stages. On the last tower, only Gi-hun, Myung-gi (Player 333) and the child remain. Myung-gi tries to kill the baby for the prize, and he and Gi-hun fight and fall from the tower. Gi-hun is left with a choice: kill the child, let them both die, or sacrifice himself. He chooses to die, and Player 222 is declared the winner.
How Sky Squid Game’s rules affect the ending
The contest takes place on three towers shaped like a square, a triangle and a circle. Each stage requires at least one participant to be pushed from its structure. On the second and third towers, a player must press a button to start the round for a death to count toward that requirement. A death outside an official round does not count. That distinction matters during the final fight: Myung-gi’s fall happens outside the official round and does not fulfill the required sacrifice.
Who dies in season 3?
These are key deaths tied to the finale and its explanation, not a complete roll call of every player killed across the season.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Jun-hee (Player 222): Injured after falling on the stairs and unable to compete normally, she gives birth during Hide and Seek. Gi-hun gets the baby through the Jump Rope course. When he tries to return for Jun-hee, she realizes he may be eliminated and the infant could then be killed. She steps off the platform to protect her child.
- Gi-hun (Player 456): He chooses to die rather than kill the baby, making Player 222 the winner.
- Myung-gi (Player 333): He falls during his fight with Gi-hun on the final tower. Because the fall occurs outside an official round, it does not satisfy that round’s sacrifice requirement.
- Captain Park: Season 3 reveals that he works with Front Man and the games. After Park attacks Jun-ho’s boat party, Jun-ho kills him. Park’s final words—that he was “just following orders”—confirm Front Man’s involvement in the mission.
What does Gi-hun’s sacrifice mean?
Hwang Dong-hyuk connects the baby to the future generation and to the responsibility to leave a better world for it. “Ultimately, the baby represents the future generation,” he told Netflix Tudum. He also described Gi-hun’s choice as a warning about the cost of pursuing immediate self-interest without restraint, sacrifice or cooperation. That is the creator’s stated reading, not the only interpretation a viewer can draw from the ending.
Hwang said he did not initially plan for Gi-hun to die, but came to feel that the sacrifice brought the game and the character’s journey to a fitting close. Gi-hun’s choice also resonates with his estrangement from his own daughter, Ga-yeong, as actor Lee Jung-jae notes in the same Netflix Tudum finale explainer.

Who is the surprise cameo in the final scene?
The woman playing ddakji in Los Angeles is Cate Blanchett, identified by TheWrap. After leaving Ga-yeong her father’s belongings and money, Front Man hears ddakji tiles hitting the ground and sees the woman playing with a visibly distressed man.
The scene suggests that the recruiter system may operate beyond the Korean games, but it does not confirm a new competition, a map of other games or an announced spinoff. Hwang told TheWrap the cameo was intended as an impactful ending, “It wasn’t anything to hint at a Season 4 or anything like that.”

Is Squid Game season 4 happening?
Netflix describes season 3 as the final season, and its finale explainer says episode 6 is the definitive planned series finale. Hwang’s rejection of a season 4 tease is consistent with that: the original series’ story is concluded in the official account. He has expressed openness to telling other stories in the Squid Game universe, but that is not confirmation of a future project.
All six season 3 episodes are streaming on Netflix, according to the official season guide. Availability and subscription details can vary by location; check Netflix for local access.
