“You Have a Lot to Learn About Pirates” is season 1, episode 5, set in the New Republic era. Its central mystery begins with the children’s ship, the Onyx Cinder: SM-33 cannot recall the location of At Attin, but the ship’s former owner may have left a way to find it.
The Onyx Cinder leads the crew to Lanupa
The children discover that the Onyx Cinder once belonged to the notorious pirate Captain Tak Rennod. Since SM-33 cannot supply At Attin’s coordinates, the crew heads to Lanupa, where Rennod’s hidden lair may hold the answer. A pirate fortress becomes a spa
Lanupa’s old pirate stronghold has been transformed into a luxurious spa, an incongruous setting for a search through a notorious captain’s hideout. The children are unwelcome, Jod is recognized under another alias, and SM-33 is fitted with a restraining bolt. To reach Rennod’s personal logs—and the route home—the crew has to get beneath the spa and negotiate the lair’s traps.

The change from fortress to resort gives the episode an unusual contrast: a polished place of rest built over a dangerous hideout. The lair still carries the threat of its former purpose, and the children’s search soon becomes more perilous than a simple hunt for directions. Jod turns on the children
Once the mint revelation emerges, Jod stops acting like an ally. He challenges Fern for command and orders SM-33 to take the children prisoner. The children escape through a trap door, but the danger escalates when Jod draws a lightsaber to his own palm. The moment signals that he is far more dangerous than the children had understood—and leaves their search for home entangled with the threat he poses.
