A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Spoilers for the ending and both credits scenes. Sonic and his friends can stand up to Shadow, but the climax is not settled by simply overpowering him. Sonic reaches Shadow through their shared experience of loss, and the two shift from enemies to allies against a greater threat. Shadow appears to sacrifice himself—then the second credits scene reveals that he survived. The first credits scene introduces Amy Rose and multiple Metal Sonic units, but does not confirm the next film’s plot.
How does the final conflict with Shadow end?
Shadow’s hostility is rooted in Maria Robotnik’s death and his desire for revenge. The ending sets that grief beside Sonic’s own experience of loss. Rather than treating Shadow only as an enemy to defeat, Sonic tries to reach him through what they have both lost.
The ending recap reports that Sonic wins their super-powered fight but chooses not to kill Shadow. The confrontation changes direction: Sonic and Shadow work together against Gerald Robotnik’s plan, while Ivo Robotnik also turns against Gerald. The story frames the alliance as a turn from revenge toward protecting the world; it does not establish that Shadow’s grief or anger has simply vanished.
Does Shadow die?
It looks as if Shadow sacrifices himself during the climactic threat. The second credits scene overturns that apparent death by showing him alive. Shadow survives, so the ending is not a permanent defeat or death for him.

What do the post-credits scenes mean?
The first credits scene introduces Amy Rose and Metal Sonic
Amy Rose intervenes to save Sonic, and the scene also shows multiple Metal Sonic units. Those appearances create possibilities for future stories, but they do not confirm which characters or plot threads will continue in another film.
The second credits scene confirms Shadow’s survival
Shadow’s return resolves the question raised by the apparent sacrifice: he is alive. The scene does not, by itself, establish what role he will have in a future film.

What the ending says about Sonic and Shadow
The central contrast is between revenge and protection. Sonic’s victory matters less as a show of strength than as a change in what the conflict is for: he recognizes the grief behind Shadow’s hostility, and their fight becomes cooperation against a larger danger. That reading explains the alliance without claiming Shadow has stopped grieving or that the film gives a complete account of what comes next.
