Michael Bublé advanced Shye and Sofronio Vasquez to the live shows in The Voice Season 26, Episode 17, “The Playoffs Part 3.” Jaukeem Fortson, Sloane Simon and Cameron Wright were eliminated. The decision split the episode’s reported outcome from one critic’s view: TVLine’s Charlie Mason rated Jaukeem’s “Man in the Mirror” an A+ and argued he should have advanced, while Shye moved on after a positive response from the coaches.

Why Jaukeem’s elimination stood out
Mason called Jaukeem’s performance the night’s standout, gave it an A+ and argued Bublé should have advanced him. Gwen Stefani also praised the performance, saying, “This is the first time I’ve seen you unleash the beast.” That reaction, as transcribed by TVLine, helps explain why the result could surprise viewers who shared the critic’s enthusiasm.
Shye’s outcome highlights the contrast. Mason gave her “Story of My Life” a B and questioned whether the song suited her voice, while noting the coaches responded positively. She nevertheless earned one of Bublé’s two live-show spots. The recap does not provide Bublé’s full reasoning, so the performances and the final selection can be reported, but his motive cannot be stated as fact.

How the other performances were received
Sofronio Vasquez
Sofronio advanced with Roy Orbison’s “Crying,” which Mason also rated A+. Gwen Stefani praised how the performance developed: “It kept building,” she said, “to a place I didn’t think was possible.”
Sloane Simon
Mason gave Sloane a C+, criticizing the arrangement. He also noted that she had lost her father days before the performance. That personal circumstance is part of the recap’s context; the grade remains the critic’s subjective assessment.

The outcome establishes which two Team Bublé artists moved on, not an objective ranking of all five performances. Mason’s grades and preference for Jaukeem are one reviewer’s judgment; the available episode coverage does not document Bublé’s complete rationale for selecting Shye and Sofronio. Those distinctions matter when a recap compares a coach’s decision with a critic’s response.
