In July and August 2023, Phisnom’s criticism of the FNaF: Security Breach – RUIN DLC, a minor’s joking reply, and the reported harassment that followed became a controversy over how he responded. Some fans called for Phil Morg to be fired or for FNaF Plus to be cancelled. On August 4, Phisnom reportedly said he would stop developing the game and that his Fanverse contract had ended; those reports are distinct from an official announcement that the project was cancelled.
What reportedly started the controversy?
A contemporaneous Reddit community megathread dated July 29, 2023, said Phisnom streamed the RUIN DLC and later described it as boring. A minor replied jokingly that people could call FNaF Plus boring after it was released. The account is community reporting, not an independently verified record of the exchange: the July 29 megathread.
Why did Phisnom’s early response draw criticism?
The megathread reported that users sent the minor threats and graphic material in the days after the exchange. It also described Phisnom making jokes and posting an apology document that linked to a joke video. Critics saw that response as dismissive of the harassment rather than a prompt condemnation of it. That describes the reaction reported in the discussion; it does not establish Phisnom’s intent or independently identify who sent the material. The original reports are available in the megathread and a thread about the apology document.
What did the August 4 response reportedly announce?
A contemporaneous Reddit thread said Phisnom posted a video addressing the situation on August 4, 2023, and announced he would no longer develop FNaF Plus. The same thread reported that he said his Fanverse contract had been terminated: the August 4 discussion. The original video, a transcript, and an official statement from the Fanverse or rights holder are not established in the sources available here, so the contract detail should be understood as a report of what he said, not as independently confirmed contract documentation.

Was FNaF Plus cancelled or just delisted?
The August 4 discussion reported that FNaF Plus was no longer available on the Steam store by August 5. A fan-maintained wiki also described the listing as removed while noting it had no official confirmation of cancellation: the wiki’s FNaF Plus page. A delisted or unavailable store page is not, by itself, proof of a formal cancellation announcement. The available accounts support describing the game as unavailable on Steam and its developer as reportedly departing; they do not establish a rights-holder announcement formally cancelling the project.
Did fans agree that Phil Morg should be fired?
Some fans called for Morg to be fired or for FNaF Plus to be cancelled, but the available discussion does not establish a representative majority or a reliable count. Replies in the contemporaneous thread included both support and criticism, indicating mixed reactions among participants in that discussion rather than a measured view of the wider FNaF fandom: the August 4 thread.

The most careful account is therefore a sequence of reported events: criticism of RUIN, a joking reply from a minor, reported harassment, backlash over Phisnom’s early response, and a later video followed by reports of his departure from FNaF Plus and the end of his Fanverse contract. Calls for him to be fired were part of the reaction, not evidence of a fandom-wide consensus.
