That is not an official Netflix confirmation. The sources reviewed do not establish a series order, release date, episode count or complete cast.
What is the status of the One Tree Hill sequel?
TVLine reported on August 30, 2024, that Netflix was developing a sequel, with Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton expected to executive-produce and reprise their roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer. The latest status located is from Production List, a third-party production database: its entry, updated October 3, 2026, labels the project “in post-production” and says principal photography is complete. Production List’s entry is a database listing, not an announcement from Netflix.

What is the reported story?
The premise reported during development centers on Brooke and Peyton roughly 20 years after the original series, now raising teenagers and facing themes including love, insecurities and grief. TVLine described this as the proposed setup; it is not a confirmed episode synopsis. TVLine’s August 30, 2024 report also identified Bush and Burton as the returning stars expected to lead the project.

Has Netflix ordered it, and when could it premiere?
A completed shoot and a post-production label suggest substantial progress, but neither establishes that Netflix has formally ordered the project to series. The sources reviewed do not verify an order, premiere date or episode count. Netflix’s January 7, 2026, 2026 slate announcement did not include the title; that omission alone does not show that the project was canceled.
