Billy Bob Thornton initially described a February-or-March filming window for a possible second season of Landman, but his comment was conditional—not confirmation that the series had been renewed or was filming. Paramount+ later announced that season-two production was underway in Texas on April 2, 2025. In May, Thornton said filming was taking place around Fort Worth and north toward Denton.
What Thornton said about the possible filming schedule
In an August interview for Entertainment Weekly’s Fall TV Preview, Thornton said he understood that, if the show proceeded with a second season, filming would happen “sometime around February, March, somewhere in there.” Yahoo Entertainment reported the comment. Its page was inaccessible when checked, so the quotation is available through Yahoo’s search-result excerpt rather than a reviewed article page. Yahoo Entertainment
The key qualification is “if”: Thornton was describing an expected window for a season that was still possible at the time, not announcing that it had been ordered or that cameras had started rolling.
When season two production was confirmed
Paramount+ announced on April 2, 2025, that production on Landman season two was underway in Texas. That is the clearest official confirmation that filming had begun. The announcement establishes that production was in progress by that date, but does not give the exact first day or a wrap date. Paramount Press Express

Where Thornton said the show was filming
In an interview published by KPRC Click2Houston on May 23, 2025, Thornton said: “We are currently filming season 2 of ‘Landman’ and we’re shooting in the whole Fort Worth area, and surrounding areas just north of Dallas toward Denton.” His description adds local detail to Paramount+’s broader statement that production was underway in Texas. What the production announcement says about the series
Paramount+ describes Landman as Taylor Sheridan’s drama set in the boomtowns of West Texas, based on the 11-part Boomtown podcast from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly. Its April 2025 announcement listed Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan and Colm Feore among the cast, and said the first season streams exclusively on Paramount+. That release is not a check of the service’s current catalog.
