Tiffany Haddish said she has sometimes looked up information about online critics and called some of them. Her comments appeared in a Los Angeles Times interview published May 2, 2024, and were reported by E! the following day. Complex also reported that Haddish described using a fake Instagram persona to confront trolls and hiring an analyst to investigate death threats. Those details are accounts attributed to Haddish, not independently verified findings.
What Haddish said about responding to trolls
In the Los Angeles Times interview, Haddish spoke about looking up information on people who criticized her online. E! quoted her saying, “I’ve learned how to find people’s information.” E! also reproduced a longer passage in which she said she sometimes became angry enough to get a critic’s phone number and call them. These are Haddish’s reported remarks, not recommendations for how readers should respond to harassment.
The comments point to a personal, confrontational response to online criticism: rather than ignoring it, Haddish said she sometimes tried to identify or contact the people behind it. The reports do not establish how often she did so or independently confirm any particular search or call.
What reports say about the fake Instagram persona
Complex reported that Haddish described creating a fake Instagram persona named Sarah to confront trolls. That account is attributed to Haddish through Complex’s report of the interview; the original Los Angeles Times interview was not directly available in the materials supporting this article.

What was reported about death threats and an analyst
Complex also reported that Haddish hired a digital forensics analyst to investigate death threats. According to Complex, the analyst concluded that 75 percent of the messages Haddish described came from bots in Malaysia and Iran. The underlying analysis and its methodology are not available here, so that figure should be understood as Complex’s account of an analyst’s reported finding, not an independently verified statistic.
Where the comments appeared—and the memoir connection
E! published its report on May 3, 2024, and said the Los Angeles Times interview was published May 2. E! connected Haddish’s attitude toward critics with the title of her memoir, I Curse You with Joy. The book is relevant context for the story, not a product or method for identifying or stopping trolls.
