On January 7, 2026, Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings wrote on Bluesky that a 2028 candidate who would prosecute the “former regime at every level” would have his vote. The posts came amid news coverage of the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer in Minneapolis; Jennings also commented on calls to abolish ICE and the Department of Homeland Security, and on U.S. regime-change policy.
What Ken Jennings posted about the 2028 election
Jennings’s central post, reported by Mediaite, said: “The ‘prosecute the former regime at every level’ candidate has my vote in 2028.” He published it on Bluesky on January 7, 2026; Mediaite placed the post at 3:26 p.m. Eastern.
The wording expresses Jennings’s stated preference for a future candidate. It does not establish that anyone has committed a crime or that a prosecution will occur. While some headlines paraphrased the post as a swipe at Trump or his administration, Jennings’s quoted wording referred to the “former regime.”
What else he said about ICE and DHS
In a separate Bluesky post, Jennings joked about a reply to an “Abolish ICE” post that urged abolishing DHS instead. Deseret News reproduced his wording: “It’s been a dark week, but I just saw someone reply to an ‘Abolish ICE’ post with a scoldy Bluesky ‘Uh, try abolish DHS’ and that joy will sustain me for a little while.”

Deseret News also reported that Jennings compared U.S. policy toward Venezuela with the recurring promise of a fresh start: “America is always like ‘ok but the NEXT regime change will work,’ like when I ‘cut out carbs’ briefly every January.” These remarks were his political commentary, not a neutral account of U.S. policy.
The news context for the posts
Contemporary coverage by Deseret News and Mediaite reported the posts in the aftermath of the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. The accounts characterize the incident differently, so the posts should be understood as Jennings’s reaction to the news context—not as evidence resolving disputed details of the shooting.
