What happens in “Bags”?
In “Bags,” Dean Cipher uses pressure and threats to push Marie and Jordan toward a public fight. According to Penn State Student Media’s episode recap, he threatens to send Emma back to Elmira if they refuse. As the fight looms, the group tries to investigate Cipher and gather evidence against him.

Marie trains with Cipher while Cate and Jordan search his home
Marie trains with Cipher, and her experience leads her to believe he has no powers. The training is dangerous: when Marie attempts to levitate a goat, the animal dies. Meanwhile, Cate and Jordan investigate Cipher’s home and discover a burned-looking body in a chamber. They photograph it, and the body opens its eyes. Cipher later tells Cate that it is his father.
Emma’s camera is discovered
Emma goes undercover and places a camera near the area where the fight is being staged, hoping to capture evidence. Cipher finds the camera, putting the group’s plan to expose him in jeopardy.

How does the fight end?
Before the fight, Marie and Jordan share a tender moment and kiss in the ring. But the confrontation quickly turns violent: Jordan begins hurting Marie, and Cipher is controlling Jordan. The fight reveals that Marie’s conclusion about Cipher was wrong—or, at minimum, incomplete. Cipher does have powers, and the episode ends on that cliffhanger.
What does Episode 4 reveal about Dean Cipher?
The episode sets up the apparent discovery that Cipher has no powers through Marie’s training and Cate’s accusation. Cate tells Cipher she knows his secret, repeating that he is powerless. The ending contradicts that belief by showing him control Jordan.

That is the extent of what “Bags” establishes about the reveal. Cipher identifies the body in the chamber as his father, but the episode-specific account does not provide a complete explanation of Cipher’s identity or how his powers work. The ending is a revelation, not a full account of his history or abilities.
