It has aired, and The Boys has since concluded its fifth and final season. This recap covers the established setup and broad Season 2 status quo without guessing at episode-specific turns.
What is Gen V about?
Gen V is set at Godolkin University, where young supes train for careers as the next generation of superheroes. The school is part of a Vought-managed system in which popularity, endorsements, and the promise of superhero stardom shape student life. Beneath that campus premise sits a sinister school mystery. Amazon’s series announcement describes the university and the students’ pursuit of becoming heroes.

Where do the main students stand after Season 1?
The most useful Season 1 takeaway is the division between students publicly presented as heroes and classmates returning to campus carrying trauma. Amazon’s official Season 2 listing frames Cate and Sam as heroes, while Marie, Jordan, and Emma return to class after months of trauma. That contrast signals the uneasy status quo: public reputation and private experience do not line up neatly.
The finale’s fallout and fractured student alignments matter to that setup, but the available official description does not establish the detailed sequence of events or each character’s precise motivation. This recap therefore avoids assigning specific actions or fates beyond what the listing confirms.

How does Gen V connect to The Boys?
Gen V expands the same superhero world through Godolkin and the institutions that prepare supes for public life. The broader political crisis provides context, rather than a substitute for the student story. In The Boys Season 4, Victoria Neuman was positioned near the vice presidency, while Butcher was described as having only months to live. The season premiered June 13, 2024, and its finale aired July 18, 2024, according to Amazon’s Season 4 announcement.
For a continuity catch-up, keep the scales distinct: Godolkin’s students are dealing with school, fame, and trauma, while the parent series’ political crisis raises the stakes across the supe world. The available official material establishes that broad context, not a detailed crossover chronology.

What should you know about the timing now?
Season 2 has already aired, so a “before the return” framing is outdated. Amazon reports that The Boys’ fifth and final season concluded in May 2026, and says both seasons of Gen V are available on Prime Video. See Amazon’s update on the final season.
