Force of Nature: The Dry 2 brings Eric Bana back as federal detective Aaron Falk, this time investigating a missing woman after a corporate hiking retreat in remote Australian bushland. Its hook is sharp: five women went in, four came back, and their accounts differ. That setup promises an ensemble mystery as much as a Falk story; the available film and production information establishes the premise and credits, but not enough to support a verdict that Bana carries the thriller.
What is Force of Nature: The Dry 2 about?
Directed and written by Robert Connolly, the 2024 Australian crime thriller follows Falk as he investigates a woman’s disappearance during a remote corporate retreat. Five women set out; four return, each with a different account of what happened. The conflicting stories put the group’s relationships and credibility at the center of the mystery.
The film is a sequel to The Dry, which introduced Bana’s screen version of Falk, and adapts Jane Harper’s novel Force of Nature. It runs about 112 minutes according to listings from Disney+, Apple TV, and IFC Center; AMC+ lists 1 hour 53 minutes, a small metadata difference.
Does Eric Bana carry the film?
Bana is the returning lead, but the premise gives the women at the retreat the central dramatic weight: the investigation depends on their differing accounts and the missing woman’s absence. The cast includes Anna Torv, Deborra-Lee Furness, Robin McLeavy, Sisi Stringer, Lucy Ansell, and Jacqueline McKenzie, alongside Bana. Screen Australia also credits Jeremy Lindsay-Taylor, Richard Roxburgh, and Tony Briggs.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That is a strong ensemble framework, but a cast list and synopsis cannot establish whether Bana dominates the finished film, how he plays Falk, or whether the performance anchors its suspense. Calling the thriller “hulking,” or saying Bana carries it, would require evidence from the film itself. What can be said from the premise is that Falk is the investigator through whom the audience approaches a case whose key testimony belongs to the group.
How does the mystery work on paper?
The conflicting accounts offer a clear engine for a whodunit: each woman may hold a different piece of the truth, and the search for the missing hiker turns the retreat into a puzzle. Remote bushland supplies an isolated setting, while the corporate-retreat context places people with shared obligations together under pressure.

Those ingredients establish the kind of mystery the film is setting up, not whether its clues are fair, its reveals satisfying, or its pacing effective. Those judgments depend on the actual scene-by-scene construction. The premise alone does not show whether the film gives each woman a fully distinct perspective or lets Falk’s investigation overwhelm the ensemble.
How does the film relate to the novel and the first movie?
Force of Nature is based on Harper’s novel of the same name, and it continues the screen story of Falk begun in The Dry. Those connections make it accessible both as a standalone missing-person case and as a follow-up for viewers who know the first film.

The available production information does not establish which characters, plot turns, or interior elements from the novel the adaptation changes or emphasizes. Nor does it substantiate a comparison of the sequel’s quality with The Dry. Viewers interested in the source material can read Harper’s novel, but a detailed book-versus-film comparison would require examining both versions.
