Spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection Season 1, Episode 4, “Call Me Red.” Dexter infiltrates Leon Prater’s gathering of killers, kills Lowell before he can target another woman, and reveals his identity as the Bay Harbor Butcher. Meanwhile, Angel Batista questions Harrison in New York—and Dexter stops his son just as he is about to confess to the police.
Dexter enters Prater’s gathering as “Red”
To get inside Leon Prater’s invitation-only gathering, Dexter assumes the identity of Ronald “Red” Schmidt. Prater is an extremely wealthy man fascinated by serial killers, and his gathering gives Dexter access to a secretive social circle built around murder and the people who commit it.
Among the guests are Mia LaPierre, known as Lady Vengeance; Al, known as Rapunzel; Gareth, the Gemini Killer; and Lowell, the Tattoo Collector. Dexter has entered a room full of dangerous people while concealing that he is one of them—and that he has come with his own purpose.
The dinner reveals the gathering’s rules—and Lowell’s next target
At dinner, the guests hear that Keith, the Canton Clubber, was killed after breaking the group’s rules. The story establishes that Prater’s circle is more than a gathering of killers swapping stories: it has its own hierarchy and expectations, and breaking them can be fatal.

Before the killing, Dexter tells Lowell who he really is: Dexter Morgan, the Bay Harbor Butcher. The reveal punctures the Red disguise at the moment Dexter is most dangerous. He has entered Prater’s world as an impostor, but Lowell learns the truth only when Dexter has control of the encounter.
Batista’s questions push Harrison toward a confession
While Dexter is dealing with Lowell, Angel Batista arrives in New York and approaches Harrison. Batista is suspicious of Dexter and asks Harrison to tell him anything he knows. Harrison is already burdened by guilt over Ryan Foster’s murder, and the questioning adds pressure to a situation he has struggled to manage.

After a difficult encounter with Elsa, Harrison heads toward NYPD headquarters to confess. Dexter appears before Harrison can go inside and tells him not to. The episode closes on that interruption: Harrison is close to putting his secret in police hands, while Dexter has stepped back into his life and Batista is looking for answers.
What the ending means
“Call Me Red” brings its two central threats into sharper focus. In Prater’s circle, Dexter can act decisively and stop Lowell, but his place among the killers depends on a false identity and a room full of people he cannot safely trust. In New York, Batista’s investigation is closing in on the family, and Harrison’s guilt may expose what he has done. Dexter’s final intervention keeps Harrison from confessing for now, but it also puts father and son back on the same side of a secret.

The contrast gives the ending its tension: Dexter has just taken control of one dangerous situation, yet he cannot resolve the consequences of the other simply by telling Harrison to stay quiet. Michael C. Hall described filming the episode as feeling like “Dexter had been transported into some sort of bizarro, twisted superhero movie.” That heightened, dreamlike quality fits the episode’s move between Prater’s strange killer society and the more familiar danger of police scrutiny.
