Why is Wade’s timeline falling apart?
TVA agent Paradox tells Wade that his reality is deteriorating because its original Wolverine has died. In the film, that Wolverine is treated as the timeline’s “anchor being.” Wade searches for another Logan who could take his place, but Paradox rejects the substitution. He sends Wade and the Wolverine variant into the Void instead.

The Logan Wade recruits is not the original Wolverine whose death set the crisis in motion. He is a variant from another reality, and his survival does not undo that original death or simply satisfy the TVA’s proposed procedure.

Cassandra Nova seeks to use the Time Ripper to destroy realities. At the climax, Wade and Logan discover that stopping the machine means reaching its two opposing power connections—a task that appears fatal.

Logan volunteers, but Wade incapacitates him and attempts the act alone. Logan returns and takes the other connection. Together, they overload the machine. Cassandra is defeated, Wade’s reality is saved, and the Deadpool variants are allowed to return to their respective universes.
What happens to Logan at the end?
Logan survives and remains in Wade’s world. The final gathering brings him together with Wade’s friends and X-23, making his place in Wade’s circle part of the resolution—not a return to the reality he came from.

What does the ending mean for their friendship?
The apparent sacrifice puts the pair’s loyalty to each other—and to Wade’s found family—to the test. Their decision to face the machine together turns a timeline crisis into the emotional payoff of an unlikely friendship. Director Shawn Levy described the film as building “this unlikely friendship” between the two leads and called it an “odd-couple buddy-cop movie” in an official interview with Marvel.
Kevin Feige said the story draws on the history of Fox’s X-Men characters and offers “at least hints at how we plan to build on that mutant saga going forward.” That broad comment is not a promise about a particular sequel or future appearance. Marvel’s interview with Feige discusses the film’s place in that wider history.
