DC Worlds Collide launched globally on July 7, 2025, after its May 15 announcement and pre-registration opening. At launch, the free-to-play mobile squad RPG featured more than 70 DC heroes and villains. Its film tie-in arrived two days later: Superman (DCU), inspired by the 2025 movie, became playable on July 9.
When did DC Worlds Collide launch?
Warner Bros. Games announced DC Worlds Collide and opened pre-registration on May 15, 2025. The publisher announced the game’s global rollout on July 7, 2025. The May date shown on DC’s game page refers to the initial announcement and listing, not the global launch date. DC’s game page and the Warner Bros. Games launch announcement establish the distinction.
What kind of game is DC Worlds Collide?
Warner Bros. Games describes it as a free-to-play, squad-based mobile role-playing game. Players collect and upgrade characters, form teams, and fight strategic 3D turn-based battles. Its activities include story missions, boss battles, minigames, events, and both solo and competitive play. The story draws on the DC comics Trinity War and Forever Evil.
Story and team-building
The Crime Syndicate invades Earth. The Justice League battles its evil counterparts and apparently disappears after defeat; Batman and Catwoman escape. The setup puts character choices and team composition alongside story progression, rather than making the game only a sequence of standalone battles.

How many characters were in the launch roster?
Warner Bros. Games said the game launched with more than 70 DC heroes and villains, a figure also reported by DC. Examples named in the launch materials include Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor, Bane, and Gorilla Grodd. This is the roster count at launch in July 2025—not a confirmed current total. The available official launch information does not establish how many characters are in the game now.

How did the game connect to the 2025 Superman movie?
Warner Bros. Games announced Superman (DCU), a game character with an appearance inspired by the 2025 film, as the first new roster character. He became available in-game on July 9, 2025, ahead of the movie’s U.S. theatrical release on July 11, 2025. The character is a film-inspired addition to the game; the announcement does not describe the game itself as an adaptation of the movie. The publisher’s launch announcement gives those dates.
In a DC interview published July 28, 2025, writer Gail Simone said film-related versions of Superman and Guy Gardner had already been added, with Mister Terrific expected later that summer. That was her statement at the time of the interview; it does not establish the game’s current roster. Read the interview with Simone.
