The “surprise return” in the finale interview coverage refers to Terry Silver. A separate return earlier in the episode is younger Mr. Miyagi, who appears in Daniel’s dream; the two moments are distinct. The finale also ends with Sekai Taikai fighter Kwon’s death, a shock the creators said would shape the story’s final episodes.
Who returns in the Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 finale?
TVLine’s November 16, 2024 finale interview frames Terry Silver’s reappearance as the “epic return” connected to the episode’s climactic violence. Silver is one of several antagonists still in play when the middle run of episodes ends; the interview does not treat his return as the same event as the younger Mr. Miyagi image in Daniel’s dream.
That distinction matters because “surprise return” is used in coverage of two different moments. Silver returns to the story, while Miyagi appears as a younger version of himself in a dream sequence at the start of “Eunjangdo,” episode 10. That appearance is not a literal resurrection or a new performance by Pat Morita.
What happens to Kwon at the Sekai Taikai?
The tournament descends into a riot after an official is struck. Kreese and Silver fight, Johnny faces Sensei Wolf, and Robby steps in when Zara attacks Tory. During the chaos, Kreese realizes his eunjangdo—a traditional Korean knife—is missing. Kwon picks it up, is kicked down, and falls onto the weapon, fatally impaling himself, according to TVLine’s finale recap.

The death transforms the tournament from a contest into a public tragedy. Netflix Tudum notes that the event is televised around the world. Jon Hurwitz told Tudum: “These middle five episodes ended in tragedy and shock not only for the people in that venue, but that was televised all over the world — who knows what the repercussions are going to be?” The creators presented the death as a consequential turn, not a moment the story could simply leave behind.
Why does younger Mr. Miyagi appear in Daniel’s dream?
At the end of “Blood In Blood Out,” Silver gives Daniel an envelope concerning Miyagi’s past at the Sekai Taikai. At the beginning of “Eunjangdo,” Daniel dreams he is fighting a younger Miyagi. Miyagi appears to overpower him, speaks to him, and shifts into the older image before Daniel wakes. The sequence connects Daniel’s present conflict to the history he is trying to understand.

Jon Hurwitz said the creators had discussed what Ralph Macchio wanted to see in the final season, including a way for Macchio to share screen time with Pat Morita again. The team obtained the Morita estate’s involvement and spoke with one of Morita’s daughters; Macchio also spoke with her about the scene.
Co-creator Josh Heald described the production as combining a real stand-in performer, digital design, face mapping, artificial intelligence, and audio drawn from Morita’s performances in the Karate Kid films. Hurwitz said there was no soundalike performance. These are the creators’ descriptions of the methods used; Morita did not personally take part in making the sequence.

What did the creators say the tragedy means for the ending?
Episode 10 closes with unresolved conflict rather than a settled tournament outcome. Hayden Schlossberg told Netflix Tudum: “All the big bads are still in play. You still have Kreese, Silver, Sensei Wolf, Master Kim Da-Eun. Everyone is still on the board. Nothing’s been resolved. We have a lot of fun in store with all the characters left in tatters at the end of Episode 10.” Hurwitz’s point about the televised death underlines why Kwon’s fate could affect more than the fighters in the venue.
The final five episodes were intended to resolve relationships and storylines developed across Cobra Kai and the wider Karate Kid history, according to the creators’ February 2025 Television Academy interview. Heald described the aim as bringing “a conclusion and resolution to everything we have put in motion.”

Did the creators confirm another Cobra Kai series?
No continuation was announced in the cited interviews. The creators said they had ideas for another iteration, but any further project depended on conversations with Sony and Netflix. Schlossberg also described fan enthusiasm for characters returning from The Karate Kid Part II, Part III, and The Next Karate Kid as a pleasant surprise, and connected that interest to possible spin-off demand—not to an approved spin-off.
Netflix Tudum lists all six seasons as streaming on Netflix. Availability can vary by territory.
