Neither event amounts to a confirmed revival: the retrospective was a separate appearance, and no studio, network, or platform announcement is reported.
Did Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz reunite?
Yes. Deschanel and Boreanaz attended the Bones 20th Anniversary Retrospective press line at the Television Academy’s inaugural Televerse Festival on August 16, 2025, at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, according to Parade. Their appearance was for a retrospective event; it was not presented as the start of a new series.

The Fox drama ran from 2005 to 2017 for 12 seasons. Deschanel played forensic anthropologist Temperance “Bones” Brennan, while Boreanaz played FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth. The series followed the pair and Brennan’s team as they investigated cases involving human remains.
Is Bones coming back?
There is no confirmed revival in the cited July 2026 coverage. Boreanaz expressed interest in returning, but described assembling the wider group as difficult and said cast members were busy with other projects. That is an actor’s willingness to revisit the characters—not a production commitment.

The distinction matters because three different things can get described as a “reunion” or “revival”: an anniversary retrospective, informal conversations among people who worked on the show, and a formally commissioned new production. The 2025 retrospective happened; earlier informal conversations were reported; these sources do not confirm a commissioned revival.
What did David Boreanaz say about a Bones revival?
In Parade’s July 2026 report, Boreanaz said he could imagine returning to see where the characters are now, but cautioned that getting everyone involved would be tricky. He also said he remains fond of the show and its creator and that the cast is busy with other work. The remarks signal openness, not a deal or timetable.

In January 2025, Boreanaz was more explicit about the status at that time: “The reality is there isn’t a reboot of Bones in the works,” he told Parade. He said a return would have to make sense and depend on people wanting to reunite. He floated a possible story involving Booth, Brennan, and their daughter Christine, but that was a hypothetical idea, not an announced plot or commissioned project (Parade).
Did the cast announce a Bones reboot?
No. The July 2026 reports cover Boreanaz’s comments about the possibility of revisiting the series; they do not report an official announcement from the cast, Fox, a studio, or a streaming service. The 2025 anniversary event should not be treated as evidence of a reboot, and the available reporting does not include a matching current revival statement from Deschanel.

What was said about revival talks before 2026?
In 2023, creator Hart Hanson said there was no formal revival in the works at that point, though cast and crew remained in contact and sometimes asked about availability. Hanson described rights and distribution as complications, noting that Fox had aired the series while Disney had acquired 20th Century. He said resolving those questions would involve agents and lawyers, and that both lead actors would need to take part. His remarks are historical context, not a description of the project’s status in 2026 (ComicBook.com).
