Julie Chen Moonves said Angela Murray’s painful behavior toward Lisa Weintraub could be understood in light of Angela’s account of feeling like an outsider as a child—but she stressed that this did not make the behavior right. Chen Moonves also said the house evicted Lisa because houseguests viewed her as the tougher competitor.
What Julie Chen Moonves said about Angela’s treatment of Lisa
Asked for her take on Angela’s behavior toward Lisa in the Big Brother house, host Julie Chen Moonves recalled Angela becoming emotional in the Diary Room while talking about feeling like a loner during her elementary-school years.
“Hurt people, hurt people. It doesn’t make it right, but it does explain why we must ‘love one another.’ Words hurt, and can cut so much deeper than you think.”
That was Chen Moonves’s interpretation of Angela’s conduct, not an established explanation for why Angela acted as she did. Her qualification was explicit: childhood hurt does not justify hurting someone else.

Why the house evicted Lisa instead of Angela
Chen Moonves gave a separate, strategic explanation for the vote: “Bottom line is the house felt Lisa was a tougher competitor to beat, so they had to evict her over Angela.” In other words, she described Lisa’s perceived strength as a threat in the game—not the merits of either woman’s behavior—as the reason houseguests chose her.
Lisa’s reaction after the vote
In her account of speaking with Lisa outside the house, Chen Moonves said she watched Lisa process the result in silence. She recalled Lisa quietly saying to herself, “What a bunch of lying ass people,” while shaking her head. This is Chen Moonves’s description of the moment, not a claim that the reaction appeared in on-air footage.
