Alien: Earth season two is in production in London, Disney announced on 10 July 2026. That confirms the continuation Noah Hawley was discussing in 2025, when he called the story “such a huge story to explore.” Disney has not announced a premiere date in the cited update.
What is confirmed about season two
Disney’s 10 July 2026 announcement says production on season two is underway in London. It names Tracey Ullman, Sam Spruell and Jerome Flynn as additions to the cast, alongside Peter Dinklage, who had been announced earlier. Sydney Chandler and a broad returning ensemble are also listed in the announcement. Disney UK’s production and cast announcement does not give a premiere date.
Disney says season two will stream exclusively on Disney+ in the UK, where all season-one episodes are also available. That statement is specific to the UK; it does not establish the streaming home in other territories.
What Hawley meant by “such a huge story”
The quote comes from the earlier talks period, not a new interview tied to the production announcement. In an interview excerpt reported on 24 September 2025, series creator and showrunner Noah Hawley said: “I think that this is such a huge story to explore, but then again, we also have to fit into the timeline of the films.” He added that continuity with the films creates creative constraints, which can help keep the story from being “completely open ended.” The 2025 report of Hawley’s comments also said FX was weighing cost and timing; Hawley said he did not have a timeline.

At that point, season two had not been officially renewed. A finale-day interview published by TheWrap on 23 September 2025 described the renewal as pending and quoted Hawley waiting for the signal to begin. That was the status then; Disney’s later announcement confirms production has since started. TheWrap’s September 2025 finale interview captures that earlier stage.
What the finale leaves unresolved
Hawley’s discussion on the official FX podcast points to open questions rather than confirming a season-two storyline. In the season-one finale episode, he described Wendy as having some degree of control over the creatures, while asking whether anyone can truly control them—or is only fooling themselves. The official FX podcast transcript also leaves the Eye Midge in play and raises the question of which species will ultimately dominate.

Wendy and the creatures
Wendy’s authority is uncertain. Hawley framed the central issue as whether control over a dangerous creature is real, not simply whether Wendy can influence it in a particular moment.
Boy Kavalier’s consequences
Hawley said Boy may have lost the immediate exchange with Wendy but should not be counted out: his actions have created a new species. The consequences of that creation remain an open thread.

The Eye Midge and the balance between species
Hawley said the Eye Midge is not gone and left open which species will prevail. Those comments support reading the finale as a setup for further conflict, but they do not reveal how season two will resolve it.

In the FX podcast’s season-one finale discussion, Hawley said, “Well, I’m trying to get a second season.” He explained that ending the story too neatly could make it feel like a miniseries, and said he hoped FX and Disney would support continuing it over multiple seasons. Those remarks describe his position during the 2025 finale period, not the show’s current production status. The current confirmed update is Disney’s July 2026 announcement that season two is in production.
