Spoilers for “Mr. October,” season 1, episode 2 of Alien: Earth.
The second episode follows Wendy into the Maginot crash zone as she searches for her brother, Hermit. They reunite, but the truth about Wendy’s hybrid identity complicates the moment—and a loose xenomorph soon turns the rescue into a race to save him.
What happens in “Mr. October”?
The Maginot crash has left a dangerous search area around the wreckage of the Weyland-Yutani ship. Hermit, working as a medic, becomes separated from his squad and cannot signal for help. Wendy and Slightly search the aftermath and find him.
The reunion brings a difficult revelation: Wendy is a hybrid, not simply the sister Hermit believed he had lost. Before the siblings can reckon with what that means, the threat around them closes in. With alien eggs and the xenomorph nearby, the creature takes Hermit. Wendy breaks from the group and goes after him.

Why is Wendy searching for Hermit?
Hermit is Wendy’s brother, and his work as a medic has put him in the crash zone. Wendy’s search is therefore both a rescue mission and a family reunion. The episode makes that reunion emotionally fraught by revealing that Wendy’s identity has changed in a way Hermit must confront.
What is the secret revealed in the episode?
The central personal revelation is that Wendy is a hybrid. Disney+’s official synopsis also frames the episode around a reunion and a secret, alongside rising tensions between companies; it does not spell out the secret in that short description. The episode reference and contemporary review identify Wendy’s hybrid identity as the revelation at the center of her reunion with Hermit.

How does the corporate conflict fit into the story?
The crash is not just a survival crisis. The Maginot belongs to Weyland-Yutani, while Prodigy controls Wendy’s hybrid project. The companies’ competing interests give the search for people and alien specimens a larger context. Disney+ describes tensions between the companies rising in this episode. Critics have read the series’ corporate conflict as a struggle to control alien biology; that is an interpretation, not a confirmed statement of creator intent.
Does Hermit survive?
The episode’s described final turn is that the xenomorph takes Hermit and Wendy pursues him. The available episode summaries do not establish his eventual fate, so the recap cannot confirm whether he survives.
