Weston’s stepmother, Amy Gosa, said family members found him unresponsive that morning, attempted CPR and called an ambulance. He was pronounced dead at a hospital in Gordon County, according to The Independent.
What was the reported cause of death?
The family’s initial account
In a June 2 post quoted by The Independent, Amy Gosa said, “We do not know the cause.” She said an autopsy was expected and that Weston had “several health issues as well as diabetes.” Those details are the stepmother’s account; they do not establish a medical cause of death.

A later report
On June 18, The Daily Beast reported that Weston’s father told TMZ the death had been ruled natural causes. This is a later report of the father’s statement, not an official medical examiner or coroner document included in the cited coverage.

The Daily Beast also reported Purvis’s allegations concerning insurance, medical care and whether Weston’s death could have been prevented. Those are her claims, not established findings of negligence or proof of cause. The report said it was unclear whether Weston wore a glucose monitor.
