The Swiss connection came from a report interpreting an Alps photo as showing the Matterhorn. The newer, official location detail is different: CBS’s synopsis for Tony DiNozzo’s 2026 return to NCIS places him in Washington, D.C.
What location did Michael Weatherly tease?
In March 2024, Weatherly posted an image that appeared to have been taken on a ski trip in the Alps. A ScreenRant story surfaced through an IMDb News record interpreted the apparent mountain in the background as the Matterhorn and suggested Switzerland could feature in the Tony and Ziva spinoff. That was speculation based on the image, not an announced setting or verified filming location. IMDb News’ record of the 2024 report
The available account does not establish that the photo was taken in Switzerland, that the Matterhorn was definitely visible, or that the series would be set or filmed there. Weatherly’s image should therefore be understood as a tease that prompted a location theory, not a confirmation.
What was officially announced about the Tony and Ziva spinoff?
Paramount+ announced a 10-episode spinoff starring Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, describing it as the next chapter of the NCIS franchise. The announcement confirms the series order and stars; it does not confirm the Switzerland speculation or specify a European setting. Paramount+ announcement

Where is Tony DiNozzo now?
Keep the 2024 spinoff tease separate from Tony’s later return to the flagship series. CBS announced Weatherly would return as Tony in a season-long arc for the 2026–2027 NCIS season. CBS’s return announcement
