Her award appearance pushed the concert’s stage time later: MSG said she would go on closer to 9:30 p.m. ET, while doors remained scheduled to open at 7:00 p.m.
What happened at the 2025 VMAs?
The ceremony took place at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on Sunday, September 7, 2025. The Associated Press reported that Gaga won Artist of the Year, the first award presented that evening, and was the night’s top nominee. She accepted the award in person before leaving for her Madison Square Garden performance.
In her acceptance remarks, Gaga said, “Being an artist is an attempt to connect the souls of people all over the world.” The Associated Press reported the quote.
Was the Madison Square Garden concert canceled?
No. The event was The MAYHEM Ball at Madison Square Garden. The venue’s notice said Gaga would take the stage “closer to 9:30pm ET tonight” and that doors would still open at 7:00 p.m. as scheduled. The notice described a later stage time, not a cancellation or a change to the doors time. MSG’s event page carried the audience notice.

Why was Gaga’s stage time delayed?
Marie Claire reported that the performance was delayed by an hour so Gaga could accept her VMA in person. That explanation was reported by the publication; MSG’s notice gave the updated stage time but did not state a reason. Marie Claire’s September 7 report described her trip from the ceremony to the concert.

Gaga’s official store lists physical album editions, including CD and vinyl.
