The show’s central bombshell is Taylor Frankie Paul’s 2022 disclosure about “soft swinging” among people in her MomTok circle—and the damage that followed. Season 1 then shifts to a public friendship rupture, a tense Las Vegas trip, and a finale allegation that remains unresolved. Season 2 brings the original scandal back into focus when Miranda returns and challenges Taylor’s account.
What was the MomTok swinging scandal?
MomTok is a Utah-based circle of mothers who built TikTok audiences with videos about motherhood, family life, fashion, makeup, and group activities. Hulu says rumors of swinging within the group began circulating on social media and Reddit in 2022. Taylor addressed the allegations in a TikTok video without first alerting the rest of the circle, turning private tensions into public speculation. Hulu describes the fallout as including reputational harm, lost followers, and lost brand deals. Hulu’s MomTok overview traces the scandal’s role in the series’ story.
The distinction between Taylor’s disclosure and the wider cast matters: TVLine’s Season 1 recap reports that the other cast members denied participating. The scandal is the show’s public hook, not evidence that every woman in MomTok was involved. TVLine’s Season 1 finale recap recounts the season’s conflicts and cliffhanger.
The biggest Season 1 bombshell moments
These moments are ranked editorially by their effect on relationships, their importance to the season, and whether they are established events or unresolved allegations. The order is a guide, not an objective measure.

1. Taylor’s disclosure puts MomTok under scrutiny
The original scandal ranks first because it changes the stakes for the whole group. Taylor’s public response to the rumors made the women’s friendships and online reputations part of a story unfolding before a large audience. Hulu says the fallout extended to followers and brand relationships; the other cast members’ denials should be kept distinct from Taylor’s account.
2. Whitney’s Fruity Pebbles gesture humiliates Demi
At a Galentine’s Day gathering, Whitney brought a large box of Fruity Pebbles as a joke about an intimate detail Demi had shared. TVLine reports that Demi was shocked and offended by the public gesture. The recap does not spell out the private detail, so the incident is best understood as a breach of trust rather than an invitation to speculate about it.

3. Jen’s Chippendales outing becomes a marital crisis
During a group birthday trip to Las Vegas, Jen attended an event with Chippendales dancers. According to TVLine’s recap, her husband Zac texted that their marriage was over and that he would take the children. Jen became distressed and left the outing. She later said she and Zac had worked things out; the episode’s conflict should not be treated as a general verdict on their marriage.
4. Whitney’s place in the group comes into question
TVLine describes the group confronting Whitney over her distance from the others and her commitment to the friendship. It is a significant relationship conflict, but not an established expulsion from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Hulu’s Season 2 overview says Whitney continues to grapple with her place in MomTok.

5. The finale ends on an unproven allegation about Dakota
Mayci investigates whether Dakota cheated on Taylor and speaks with a woman described as an alleged mistress. The season ends before the conversation supplies an answer. It is a cliffhanger about an allegation—not proof that Dakota was unfaithful.
What does Miranda challenge in Season 2?
Season 2 returns to the original scandal through Miranda’s arrival and challenge to Taylor’s account. Disney Entertainment Press’s official episode summaries advertise a later confrontation between the two and say the truth about the swinging scandal is “finally revealed.” Those are promotional descriptions of the show’s storyline, not independent verification of private events. Disney Entertainment Press’s Season 2 episode summaries establish how the episodes present the arc.

The series follows a particular group of influencers; it is not a representative account of Latter-day Saint women or families. The Associated Press reported that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints objected before the show’s 2024 premiere to portrayals it said relied on “stereotypes or gross misrepresentations that are in poor taste and have real-life consequences for people of faith.” AP also quoted Nancy Ross, an associate professor at Utah Tech University who studies Mormon feminism: “The internet really challenged the church’s ability to maintain its own narratives about itself.” The Associated Press’s coverage of the show’s cultural context places the series within broader debates about faith, family, and online influence.
