Hints for Connections #278

Start with the broad clues, then open each hint as needed. The category names reveal more than the first clues.

  • Yellow: Think of ways to criticize someone or something.
  • Green: These words express “My mistake!”
  • Blue: Each can describe a valid explanation for where someone was or why something happened.
  • Purple: Complete the phrase “play ___.”

How to approach the puzzle

Connections asks you to sort 16 words into four groups of four based on a shared link. Some words may appear to fit more than one category, so test whether all four words make a coherent set before submitting. This board mixes criticism, apologies, alibis, and phrase completions.
